I think this is an amazing romantic comedy that is very rewatchable and never gets old. What an awesome film with great performances by Nicholson, Heather Hunt, Cuba Gooding and Greg Kinnear. Everything was spot on, from the dialogue, the directing and the score. I think this is arguably the best romantic comedy ever. 10/10.

Kinnear is gay in the movie. I do not remember her sleeping with him.

    Helen Hunt was hot.

Helen Hunt was sexy but I hated her for some reason. Good film as RomComs go...but I hate RomComs.

She did sleep with him, as in, they both slept in the same bed. However they did not have sex but rather as she said, just held each other.

I watched it upon its release because of all the Oscars nominations it got. It was good, but not memorable. One time viewing for me.

As for Helen Hunt I'll say that her younger 'Mad About You' version was cute, but by the time she did this film she was already slipping into anorexia territory. At age 50 she had regained weight and looked better even in bikini. I liked her more in 'What Women Want' with Mel Gibson...a better movie too imo.

Yeah, AGAIG is a quality movie. It got overshadowed in 97 by Jerry McGuire, but AGAIG was a much better movie IMO. Mainly because.... Jack>>> Tom

I never got all the fuzz about 'Jerry McGuire' I barely remember that film except for the 'show me the money!' scene.

It's because it's a mediocre movie, that's why. One of the lowest ranking Cruise movies, in my mind.

What do you consider Annie Hall, if not a romcom? It practically defined the genre.

You should watch AGAIG. Really good performances and good dialogue.

Ashley Judd is another chick I would have fucked the living shit out of in the 90s, but has aged horribly.

So following fightbeat's orders I watched it last night. It was ok. Well directed, written, pacing good, helen hunts character great. Jack Nicholson and his character not so much....totally unbelievable that they would get together, didn't buy into it for a second

I think I had a similar feeling the first time I saw it. I think its one of those films that requires multiple viewings to really get the brilliance of the film. For instance, the first time I saw There's Something About Mary I thought it was an overrated, average, forgettable film. After a few more viewings I saw what all the fuss was about. It was the same thing for There Will Be Blood which I thought was a horrendous and boring film the first time and AGAIG's is like that too.

Now I'm straight just starting to wonder about your taste in dramas. JM is awesome and it didn't even take extra viewings for that to be evident. Another film that had an amazing soundtrack score to help boost your emotions. In fact I think JM has one of the greatest scores out there.

When it comes to movies I hate this line of thinking. You think women don't date guys like this in the real world? Also who are you to know what another character, specifically a fictional one would or would not do?

I think sometimes you smart Alecy guys who always know what's going to happen in a film are able to do so because you don't immerse yourself in the film experience. I also think that's why you sometimes don't enjoy some of the better movies you see.

He's also rich, handsome, and at times charming. She's lonely and extremely sexually frustrated. Also, in the real world women often take to men who treat them like crap. If she really wanted him to fuck off she wouldn't have called and apologized about it. She liked the guy and was willing to work on the relationship, even though she could clearly see he had some faults. Plus what woman doesn't take a defective guy all with the mindset that they can change him?

Jerks and assholes the world over have girlfriends and wives and usually hot ones to boot.

High status, good looking jerks who command a lot of respect in the world the chick operates in. Not old, mental, misfits everyone detests...who are also total jerks. I just couldn't buy it anyway, didn't ring true

I've heard others say they didn't buy it. So I don't dismiss. But consider also her sick child and related financial challenges.

If he went with her but her reluctance at settling was made clearer. I could buy that. But I guess the studio execs probably wouldn't

I think even if they'd written out the pavement stepping ocd stuff i might've just about bought it. Or if they'd added a couple of scenes during the roadtrip where he came off as smart or sympathetic.

Whole movie was about people kind of at the end of their ropes, finding each other. If anything, maybe the Helen Hunt character didn't appear desperate enough.
