It's not an all time great film by any stretch but I quite liked Phone Booth despite the ending being a bit shite.

The premise is excellent, and it is really good right up until the end, they could have closed it out much better imo

    Some good picks.
I'll add to The Conversation, Taxi Driver, Jacob's Ladder:

    The Offence
    (Connery's best non-007 movie)
Rosemary's Baby (obvious choice & discussed elsewhere)
Session 9 (still takes me ages to get to sleep after this)
    Anything by Hitchcock

I haven't seen The Offence or The Hill. Which would you recommend more?

Even though both are Sidney Lumet, The Offence is really gritty. And for its time, '72, deals with issues that weren't talked about then:

The Hill, is a vastly underrated classic is a military prison thriller toward the end of WWII in Libya - awesome cast:

Even though it's not a 'psychological' thriller, I'm re-watching The Hill now as I type...

I spent tonight rewatching Vertigo. Yeah, that wins this thread. A flawless masterpiece of a movie.

I'll do a double-header tonight when I get in from work.

You rate Vertigo above Rear Window?

Yeah. Upon rewatch I'd say Vertigo is slightly above Psycho and Rear Window, but those three are all on the same tier of psychological brilliance.

Even The Birds, which is on a lower tier than those three, is still a great movie.

Hitchcock was a genius. A creepy, I'll fucker, but a genius.

Interesting note about Vertigo... it's Scorsese's favorite film, and I had forgotten that Cape Fear's musical score is VERY similar to Vertigo's. It's no secret that Scorsese wanted Cape Fear to be like a Hitchcock thriller. And Cape Fear is actually a DAMN GOOD movie, but it doesn't hold a candle to Vertigo, Rear Window, or Psycho.

Last thing about Vertigo - Jimmy Stewart really gave one of the best acting performances in history in this film.

Vertigo? That reminds me, I always liked Insomnia, especially the ending: “Let me sleep” fucking brilliant.

Memento and The Machinist. Those two films seen one after the other...can totally mess with your head.

I'm one of the few people who didn't like Memento. I like most Nolan movies, but not Memento.

The Machinist is an excellent movie.

Never seen it. I'll add it to my list of films to view.
