Is now official that Miguel Cotto's opponent will be Yoshihiro 'El Maestrito' Kamegai (27-3-2 24 KO) for the vacant WBO superwelter weight title. Unless Cotto is completely shot this should be an easy win for Cotto as Kamegai hasn't ever defeated any name opponent, but was defeated by Robert Guerrero and more significantly former Cotto victim, Alfonzo Gomez. All of Kamegai's defeats and draws have been produced within his last 11 fights, so don't expect the 34 year old Japanese contender to become a major threat to Cotto. Unless Cotto has aged badly since his last fight almost two years ago...too much rust on the almost 37 year old Rican is no good. Also 3 of Cottos defeats happened within his last 6 fights, but besides Austin Trout, his two other recent conquerors were elite boxers. The bout is scheduled for August 26 in California and will be promoted by Oscar De La Hoya Golden Boy Promotions.
