I really hope Nolan doesn´t get rail-roaded into making this Dunkirk movie based on popular patriotic myth...and instead tells the real fucking story.

I hope he does a good job...maybe he should've left it to the professional....Spielberg. The sound of the stuka diving down into the soldiers is a nice short preview teaser.

I don't think it looks anything better than Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, etc....
They're bound to include the mythical 'Dunkirk Spirit' into it.

There really needs to be a definitive movie about The Battle Of Kursk but I doubt anyone'd have the money to make it....

Kursk? That's very unamerican....anything that show that the Soviets were responsible for the fall of nazism is a NO-NO...:nono:

Saving Private Ryan and Thin Red Line are fucking amazing. So if that's where the movie is going, who wouldnt be fine with that?

Depends on what criteria you use.
Stalingrad caused more loss of life because of the length it went on for - it became a ´siege´: 5 months
Kursk was more of a ´battle´ in its purest form and lasted a mere 11/2 weeks

If you look at the initial strength of the two nations from both campaigns:
    STALINGRAD
    Germany: 270,000 men, 500 tanks, 3,000 artillery, 600 aircraft
    Russia: 187,000 men, 400 tanks, 2,200 artillery, 300 aircraft

It fockin PALES into insignificance when stacked up against:
    KURSK
    Germany: 780,000 men, 2,900 tanks, 9,000 artillery, 2,000 aircraft
Russia: 1.9 million men, 4,100 tanks, 20,000 artillery, 2,700 aircraft

Kursk was fucking EPIC. It beaks all records for both the costliest single day of aerial warfare and the largest tank battle in the history of mankind.
Kursk was the point of no return, my friend....

This trailer left me cold. I'll rather watch the Mel Gibson war film instead.

No really, I´ve never got into the Batman series regardless of whoever directedd or produced them.

Interstellar I got about 45 mins in and fell asleep.

What does it leave me to watch?

I think it was the Best Movie of all the 2016 Best Picture nominees. I couldn't care less for 'Moonlight' neither for the overhyped "La La Land". Had someone else, but Mel Gibson had directed this film, it would had won Oscars via landslide. But it was a Mel Gibson movie about a Christian soldier, so it had no chance at all.

I have to say here...Christopher Nolan has outdone himself here - Dunkirk is a fucking staggering movie.
Easily one of the best and most authentic war movies ever made.
It's a cliche but a true one - you really do get a weird assault on the senses of 'being there'...fuck knows what it's like in IMAX.

Seriously recommend everyone to watch this movie.

I'm a big Nolan and Zimmer fan but this movie was subpar!!!! Very very disappointed. Tried too hard to change the genre.

Thin Red Line is overrated IMO. It's good but not great. We Were Soldiers was better.

Apocalypse Now remains the best war movie I've ever seen. Saving Private Ryan is probably 2nd.

No idea what you mean by this being as Apocalypse Now was unlike any 'war' movie before it (and technically it wasn't a 'war movie' anyway)

Saw it yesterday on IMAX screen.

Fantastic for what it was. A sort of full immersion experience into getting dive bombed by nearly invisible Gerries for an hour and 47 minutes.

No where near the BEST war movie ever made, but perhaps the most immersive since the first 20 minutes of "Saving Private Ryan", and the most long drawn out tension since "Black Hawk Down".

It is a PG-13 war movie, and there is nothing in it to make you think it should have been anything other then that. "War Horse" was much more graphic and disturbing while walking the same PG-13 line.

Came out of the theater a little shaky and worn out. Probably had most to do with the constant droning Nolan soundtrack in the background, which never, ever let up. Might have given me a little PTSD in the process. :emoji_upside_down:

Think he might have gone a bit overboard with his usual intersecting timelines, but it was still effective when it all came together.

    8/10
