What are people's thoughts on him? He seems to generate quite a lot of hate but I have to say I quite like him and believe that, so far at least, he's been good for the sport. Big fights have been made under his watch and as fight fans that's what we want, right?
I agree. Every promoter has to be a bit dickish, and there is always something to criticize but overall he has been good for the sport. Just consider the options: Warren, Sauerland, King...
I think he's good for the sport. He gets a lot of hate but he's given us some fights. He helped make Spence-Brook.
Word. After living through the Warren years of over-protection he's been a breath of fresh air, big fights are getting made, what's not to like?
I don't follow these things that closely tbh but my impression is he's pretty decent. Fights seem to get made and no big stories about him robbing fighters yet
Agreed. Don't understand the hate at all. Seems like a pretty good promoter and makes fights happen. Frunk Werren was the pits, Hearn is way better.
I think he gets a lot of stick for the amount of shows he puts on PPV that don't prove to be value for money. A lot of overmatched, one-sided fights. People also think he's a smug cunt. Overall though, IMO, he's been great for boxing. Think he's looking to go over to America and make a real name for himself there too.
He's definitely not the worst of the bunch (all boxing promoters) but he's definitely a bullshit artist. Because I mainly follow 140 and 147 weight divisions in boxing, I watch out for a lot of interviews on youtube. His interviews involving Brook were a load of shit for years. Yes, he eventually helped us get Brook-Spence but after Brook won the title and he went on defend it against Jo Dan, Frankie Gavin, and Kevin Bizzier (sp?), this cunt was actually making youtube videos telling people (with a straight face no less) that these were the only guys willing to step up. He has reached out to Thurman, Porter, Garcia, Brook and "none of them guys want it now do they?" Smirking, lying prick. That's pretty much when I lost all respect.
