I always thought he was overrated anyway. But yeah he's gone now. His reflexes are no longer with him. He'd receive a real beating against any top guy now.

Gamboa was quality at 126. And to be fair, at 126 he had probably top 12 all time handspeed.

His hand speed was ridiculous, I gotta admit. But I feel he tried too hard to be like Roy and he just didn't have the ring IQ for that.

His ring IQ definitely didn't match his talent, I agree.

Overall, his decline comes down to three factors: age (he's no spring chicken), innactivity, and the punishment he took in the Crawford fight.

lol, the crawford fight has nothing to do with his decline. Boxing fans are such pansy nowadays that they think that everytime a fighter eats a few punches, he's ruined afterward.

Lack of commitment is a much better reason for his decline

Id say inactivity and getting off the PEDs contributed to gamboa's decline. poor management from curtis jackson lead to his inactivity.

Why do you think he got off of PEDs, Neil? Hunch or do you know something?

I remember during an investigation of some anti-aging clinic that was distributing PEDs in south Florida that Gamboa's name came up , along with a couple of baseball players.

Wouldn't shock me if he was on something during that time.
