He did a better job than Peter Quillin and only a marginally worse job than the far bigger Chavez Jr.

BJ Saunders is an asshole, but he's a competent 160lbr. He'd make Canelo look scrubby. He'd never beat him, he'd certainly never get the decision, but Canelo wouldn't stop him in a month of Sundays.

Canelo doesn't have the balls to face Jacobs.

Another cool tactical analysis vid from modern martial artist. He had golovkin winning by a couple but also thought it was close. When you see some of these exchanges broken down in slow motion it really brings home how good these guys are

avlarez has proven he doesnt lack the balls to face tough competition. he simply lacks the talent and stanima to beat the very elite

He is a weird one. He evidently does have the balls to face the best, after a bit of song and dance, but doesn't have much balls in the ring imo. He basically fought scared Vs Golovkin which is why I thought Golovkin won so clearly.

Yeah...it takes more balls to face Jacobs than it did to face the undefeated GGG who has never been dropped much less stopped and who knocks out virtually everyone he's ever faced. Cool logic bro.

I didn't get that feeling personally, he seemed relaxed during exchanges but seemed like he was scared of gassing...as I said, reminded me of old man b-hop

I know that was part of it, he does have to manage his energy well due to his crappy gas tank. But overall, during most of the fight, he looked scared to engage to me - even though he was winning some of them when he did throw. He basically wanted no part of Golovkin, constantly backpeddling for most rounds. And that takes energy. Constantly moving and defending is not exactly light on the gas tank compared to calmly standing your ground and firing back.

Canelo felt that GGG power a few times and wasn't a fan of it really.

Guy is winded after throwing about five punches. No exaggeration.

Yeah, I gotta admit it's actually quite impressive he can fight for 12 rounds and is an elite fighter (albeit entry level) - given how bad his stamina is.

He is kind of the opposite of McGregory, who also has shit stamina, but thinks he has good stamina and just goes and throws loads of punches.

He might be boring, but at least Alvarez knows he has shit stamina and fights accordingly, rather than gassing like a bum. He manages his energy very well. I guess it's also testament to his defence and chin that despite the bad stamina, he's never been close to getting taken out in a fight, or taken a bad beating through being tired.

So, the fight didn't break 2 mil afterall. It did 1.3 mil buys. Still a lot more than I had anticipated, and I feel that without May-McGregor, it might have reached 2 mil.

Approximately what I expected. Not bad at all, was hoping for better, but still good.

a bit below my prediction of 1.5 to 2 mill. but it did have the third highest gate ever for a boxing fight

It DEFINITELY would have surpassed 1.5 mil if not for the farce that preceded it.

The average American ain't tryin to dish out big PPV money on two fight events in less than a month.

On the OTHER hand, what's beautiful is, Canelo-Golov ended up biting UFC/Mayweather Promotions in the ass... they didn't break the Mayweather-Pacquiao buy record, and the reason for that might be a lot of people held out to order Canelo-Golov.

Canelo-Golov certainly lost May-McGregor MY money.

I would have ordered it if there wasn't another huge fight on the horizon.

BTW, I said from the JUMP that it would fall short of Mayweather-Pacquiao.

And there's shady circumstances surrounding that win.

Trout's whole mindset and gameplan was fucked by the corrupt open scoring... he KNEW during the entire fight he was getting screwed.... so he had to fight aggressive rather than box.

And STILL... I only had Ginger beating Trout 7-5.

Open scoring in boxing is the worst idea ever conceived in the minds of men

In THEORY, it was Supposed to Minimize Corruption...

In APPLICATION, it Drastically Alters Game Plans and/or Leads to Fighters COASTING if they Know They Have a Sizable Margin...
