So Groves won tonight in 4 rounds against Jamie Cox. Counter body shot got the job done. This means Groves will fight Eubank next, probably in London early next year. Groves is on the decline and Eubank is itching to get at him. I see Junior doing a number on Ginger in possibly 6 rounds or less.

I don't think it will be that quick but I agree Eubank should win. He is the faster sharper guy and still unproven, whereas Groves tends to lose the buggest fights

Lol at groves being on the way done. Incredible how boxing fans like to create little narratives

Groves will beat him. Too tall. Too loose.

Groves won via KOTY against Cox so now he is the biggest puncher in boxing

He looked strong but I just don't think he'll be able to cope with Eubank's work rate. We'll see if Eubank's chin is all it's cracked up to be, but I think it'll hold up. Speed and work rate wins this for Eubank for me.

So under 3 weeks until this one. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm rooting for Eubank to win, and I think he will.

If Eubank takes the fight to Groves from the off, I can see a stunning stoppage inside 4 rounds, but surely it won't be that easy for junior. Groves still hits hard and is tough, but he has his mental scars and junior is 100% focused, confident and hungry; more so than Groves.

I think this will be a case of an older better guy just finding a much-heralded opponent out, and afterwards everyone says "It should have been obvious"

Fancy Groves to pull this one out. I'm not at all sold on Eubanks Jr and Groves has been in with much better men, and held his own for the most part (excepting his defeat in Froch II). I reckon it'll be close, but I think Groves ecks out a points win.

I have a feeling that Eubank Jr will win, but I'm definitely rooting for the Ginger.

I don't think Groves will be able to live with Junior. Groves could well offset Eubank a lot and make him pay for making numerous mistakes, but I just feel that Groves' time is up.

I think Eubank Jr MAY be a really good fighter, I just can't tell. He's fought so much dross it's ridiculous. The one world class fighter he fought he looked absolutely inept against for six rounds and then the next six he was kinda bashing him around the ring.

I'll give him credit in that he's better than I thought he'd turn out to be a few years ago. He's a good fighter, but there's levels to the sport. Will he ever be Crawford, Spence, Ward type good? Fuck no.

He's lucky that supermiddle is no longer as deep as it was 8 years ago.

If there's any young UK fighter I've seen recently who MAY be elite good, it's Josh Taylor.

I believe Eubank Jr might be elite good. He has plenty of talent

Btw I was surprised to notice that Groves is only a year older than Eubank

IIRC groves was ahead on the scorecards in the second fight before the stoppage. Absolute madness

Groves has done best when he has been the underdog, against Degale and Froch the first time out.

Then when the expectations were high for him in Froch II and Badou Jack bouts he blew them (the Froch bout was near-even on cards but he was losing the war)

I've changed my tune a bit, Groves is a good fighter. Lovely right hand and he is deceptively fast. His form becomes really sloppy though once you get past six and Eubank seems to come on strong later on. CEj seems to have inherited his father's chin from the sparring footage I've seen with Froch so I'm going for him to lay on a bit of a beating after it gets past the fourth.

I don't remember the cards from the second fight. I'm pretty confident he was ahead on the cards in the first, which wasn't a great stoppage. He was not ahead on my card in the second fight, that's for sure.

Groves has elite level attributes. His right hand is hurtful and he is much quicker than he looks. I think he's proven much more than Eubanks Jr at this point: as I said before, he's fught much better fighters and fared reasonably well against all of them (to a point). I know he has lost thrice but he performed well in the first Froch fight and was ahead until the (early-ish) stoppage and the Jack fight was pretty even. Only Froch in the rematch has completely wiped him out. Who has Eubanks Jr fought? His best opponent beat him, and he fought nothing else of note before or since.

Neither of these is elite level. Froch showed that Groves isn't at that level and Eubanks Jr isn't yet, and IMO probably never will be. I still think Groves will do enough to nick this, as long as his chin (which is shit) holds up.

Corey Spinks still probably deserves the award, but Eubank has the talent to surpass him imo

Groves big failing is his lack of core resistance and overall hardness. Eubanks frailty is his lack of really big punching, as in legitimate WORLDSTAR power.

It's funny.........when two weakness like that coincide......the guy whose failing is that bit less is the guy who should come out on top.

The other thing is that Groves is a bit shopworn, with the benefit of real, big-fight savoir-faire, and Eubanks is fresh with the downside of no real worthwhile experience.

I fancy Groves, he's a tall, languid guy with loose fast hands. If Eubanks gives up the first half of the fight like he did against Saunders, he will lose.

I see Groves getting sparked in 3 rounds in this, it so weird to think they are nearly the same age, Groves seems to be in so many more wars and come off the wrong side of them. Easy night for jnr

It'd be nice if Showtime had picked up this fight for the US audience to see.
