Life goes from bad to worse for the Lacy family. Sad. Hydra's looking at Death Row once he's caught http://www.boxingscene.com/jeff-lacys-brother-hunted-shooting-police-officers--35099 It's been reported by Fox News, among other sources, that Hydra Lacy Jr., the brother of former champion Jeff "Left Hook "Lacy, is the main suspect in this morning's fatal shooting of three law enforcement officers in St. Petersburg, Florida. Hydra Lacy, 39, has a long criminal history, and spent a good part of his life going in and out of prison, according to records obtained by Fox. He was arrested back in 1988 for grand theft auto, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest and spent more than three years in prison. Not long after his release, he was arrested on several charges, including sexual battery and kidnapping and spent over 15 years behind bars for those crimes. He was released in 2008 and had a few minor arrests here and there. Lacy was also registered as a sexual offender as a result of the 1992 arrest.
Yeah, I get that. What I don't get is how you name one kid a common name like Jeff and then you go with "Hydra" for the other kid. Have you ever met a person named "Hydra"? It sounds like a villain out of Mortal Kombat. Edit: Apparently he is Hydra Jr. Also, at 6'4" and 270lbs, he is "Left Hook" supersized.
From Dan Birmingham: I think some guys would prefer to be in the prison system then in the real world. They have reputations and credit in prison, but in the real world they are losers and have nothing.
Hydra Jr. Unusual name, but my guess is his dad had something to do with naming him. I've known a few people that couldn't handle life on the outside because, on the outside, they have nothing. On the inside, they have reputations and such. It's messed up to the point of being unbelievable when a person would rather be in prison than in society. I guess they figure it's better on the inside because they don't have to take care of themselves---the state does it for them.
When did the system start using the word "Institutionalized"- It was definitely over 30 years ago, if not a lot more.
CNN just reported that Hydra Lacy Jr has been found dead inside of his home. Was never going to have a happy ending.
I had the same thoughts. But my heart goes out to Jeff, though (and of course to the officers and their families as well). Can't be easy for his family right now, although perhaps mixed with some semblance of relief.
Apparently Hydra was in Detroit recently too: http://www.cnn.com/2011/CRIME/01/24/michigan.shooting/index.html?hpt=T2
There were law enforcement-related shootings throughout the country in the past few days. Truly bizarre. Oddly enough, all of that news was (rightfully) buried under the reported suicide bomber in Moscow.
hmmm.. my Word document says different. ::... thanks for pointing that out, not sure what went wrong in the upload
No problem. Typically i would charge 50 dollars for the correction but for you it's free because you're good people.
