Kicks Surprisingly good flick. Never heard of it before, but kind of stumbled on it by accident last night. Small low budget indie flick with some remarkably good cinematography and some good performances. Nothing groundbreaking here, we've all seen this story before. Coming of age tale. Inner city kid, set in the Oakland Bay area, scrounges to buy a pair of Air Jordans, and they are almost immediately stolen from him by a group of thugs. Sounds hacky and by the book and you think maybe this will turn into some type of anti-consumerism, anti-gangs, I need to get out of the hood morality tale................and it does to a very small extent, but that's all mostly just a McGuffin to show us an adventure of a kid and his two friends over the course of a couple of days or so. 8/10
