can Hagler stop him? Of course not!!!! Hagler couldn't stop older former lightweight Duran. GGG would have been far and away Hagler's most formidable opponent. Yeah some people will mention Hearns...but Hearns was a former welterweight that had already been stopped at the lower weight by a guy hat wasn't a huge puncher. GGG is a big natural middleweight that has never been hurt and hits harder than Hagler. GGG is no Sibson, Roldan or Minter. Close decision either way of s guaranteed distance fight. Anyone that says Hagler wins easily is just being nostalgic
Hagler would beat Golov clear as fucking day. It's comical to say that "Hagler's never seen anything like Golov" when Hagler's opposition and resume is better by light years. Who the HELL has Golov seen that's like Hagler? Sure not that bummy Ginger or Cancer Boy. Even PRE-championship, Bennie Brisco is better than anyone on Golov's victim list.
I wasn't suggesting that GGG has a better resume, he obviously doesn't. So that's a straw man. We all know that Hagler would be the best guy that GGG has fought, but pointing out that the reverse is also true. Therefore I see no evidence in Hagler's career that suggests he'd win "clear as fucking day".
If only boxing were that simple. Firstly just because his name is Marvin Hagler and he's a legend with a bald head and goatee and was involved in a couple of the most memorable fights of all time, doesn't automatically mean he's better than GGG at almost everything. GGG is bigger and slightly taller, equal jab, comparable chin (chins are irrelevant here anyway as neither will hurt the other). Aside from that though many other things go into fight equations. On paper a middleweight Hagler had every advantage over Duran but it was still a competitive fight. Lennox Lewis had every advantage over Frank Bruno but it was a competitive fight. This fight cannot be anything other than a competitive fight since both are within the same class and have comparable attributes. You mustn't let nostalgia get the better of you or personal bias. Don't you want a place on the FB predictions team?
Golov's edge in height is neutralized by the fact that Hagler had a longer reach. Marv had freakishly long arms for a guy 5'9. Hagler had a stiffer, more effective jab, a more varied/complex offense, was better defensively, had a higher ring IQ, and had better stamina. Golov has okay stamina, but it damn sure isn't all time great level. I see him fading badly down the stretch against a Hagler or Monzon. This isn't about noslagia. I wouldn't pick every 70s/80s middleweight to beat Golov. And it's not like I said Hagler destroys him. But by the end of the fight, there'd be no doubt whatsoever that Golov got whupped. Golov would be in through about 8-9 rounds, but Hagler pulls away down the stretch and leaves no doubt. The styles favor Hagler, and Hagler was simply the better fighter.
If Canelo Could Land the CLEANER, More NOTICEABLE Shots on Triple G, and Hold His Own in Punching Exchanges (@ Worst), Hagler Would Have a CLEAR Edge Over Golovkin, in those Same Areas... And Hagler WOULDN'T Fight in Spurts or Constantly GIVE Ground, Either... He'd Switch Stances Frequently, Finding Success on BOTH Sides and Land Every Shot in the Book on Triple G... Hagler UD... REED
