Late 80's Brown vs the Cotto of 2-3 years ago. Gimme Brown by late KO.

YEah Brown would wear him down...

I think Cotto would be winning but he would eventually crumble under the pressure and firepower of Brown.

Agreed. Brown is severly underrated nowadays. Cotto would try to box him, but Brown would eventually drag him into a war. And in that war Brown wins cause he was the bigger puncher, stronger, and more durable of the two... and had better stamina.

I don't necessarily disagree with picking Brown, but i'm not convinced he could drag Cotto into a war.

If he could? I'd favor Simon, but i don't see a war as a given. Cotto is an intelligent fighter, and i'm not convinced Brown could do enough early on to be able to dictate those kinds of "terms" in the latter half.

Hmmm... Ive never thought of Cotto as a particularly intelligent fighter. He's not a dumb one, but his ring IQ is nothing special. I say this because he continually gets hit with the same punches over and over, and isnt great at making adjustments. McGirt was a more intelligent techncian then Cotto, and had smoother skills. Plus Simon was past it by then.

I definitely think the late 80's Brown can drag Cotto into a war. Dont underestimate Brown's own skills. He wasnt just a crude banger.
