Inspired by my debate w/REED in another thread.

I think we can ALL agree that Roy is the most athletic fighter ever and by a pretty substantial margin.

The other freakishly athletic fighters that come to mind are:

    Tyson
    Duran
    Ali
    Leonard
    Pac
    Floyd
    Whitaker
    Camacho
    Loma

    Others?

I won't be upset if the Brit brothers mention Hamed and Calz. Both apply here.

Yes, Roy is undisputed number 1

Leonard, Ali, Robinson, Tyson, lomachenko. Pretty Boy Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jnr, Calzaghe, Michael "Second To" Nunn

I don't think Calzaghe had ridiculous speed, he was fast, don't get me wrong, but not Roy Jones fast. He was certainly athletic though. Hamed also was fast, but not Pacquiao fast, but his whole style was basically based on athleticism.

I think of boxing athleticism as an aggregation of footspeed, handspeed, explosiveness, offensive/and/or defensive reflexes, and overall fludity and coordination.

Shane Mosley would make my top 5 list of fastest hands of all time, but he doesn't make my list overall most athletic list.

Hut, I'll give you the PERFECT example: Khan P4P has faster hands than Calzaghe. But Calz overall was a lot more athletic.

    I agree 100%.

It's far more healthy to think of child rape all day than boxing.

Employee is waiting for a Tony Ayala Jr. thread to open. That's down his alley.

Here's an example of a guy who majorly overachieved in becoming a relatively successful professional fighter, given his utter lack of athleticism:

    Carlos Maussa

Well he won a belt, and you're right that guy looked simple as fuck. Still say Froch though, even though like Maussa he was never actually lineal champ, he stuck around at world level for a lot longer.

    I forgot about Maussa.

Gotta be the most untalented title holder ever.

By the way this is a terribly boring unimaginative thread. We should just let it die

Not necessarily that...but you must admit, this thread is terrible. You really didn't put any thought or imagination into this.

Most athletic fighters of all time? Please. What a waste of forum space. What are we...12 year old novice fans?

Terry Norris was pretty athletic. He was also supposed to have been pretty good at baseball, to which you need good hand-eye coordination.
