From the boxing class of _ _. All the next generation hopefuls from that class have been defeated and only 2 remain. Some of the notables who've received losses are: Abduleave - Looked real strong at first but I never really thought much of him. He was a little old for his career and never really seemed to be into at as much as he could have been. Lacy - Big and muscular, but never seemed to improve on his skills. I like him, and thought he could go pretty far but he only seemed to get as far as he did because of a weak division. Taylor - Was never impressed with him. Feasted on smaller guys while eeking out decisions against Hopkins and Wright. Like Lacy he never really improved like he should have and I think he lost his hunger at some point. Juarez - Had the skills to outlast most of these guys but being in one of the most talented divisions finally caught up with him. Seems to be declining and losing his aggression. Ricardo Williams - Wasn't too impressed with him. There have been lots of guys who've gone far just off of having fast hands, and it almost seems like an ingredient for a bad work ethic. Waste of talent. Bojado - I thought he had the talent to go all the way, and who knows maybe he did. His problem like Williams was his work ethic. Maybe he was given too much too soon, but the fact remains there isn't a chance in hell he'll realize his potential after already making 3 comebacks before he's even made 30. The Remaining Hatton - Not surprisingly he's still standing, I always thought he could last, especially being in the 140 division. Hasn't changed much since he came on the scene but likewise never seemed as limited as Taylor or Lacy. Shocked me with the Tszyu win but a close call against Collazo almost prematurely put him on the list above. No matter, he'll be there shortly, right after his date with Mayweather. Cotto - Never knew where he stood. Many felt years ago he was better than Bojado, I had my doubts. Still, he's probably showed the best improvement with a great gradual development plan. Biting off more than he can chew in facing Mosley though, and like Hatton should be regulated to the list above some time at night on 10 November. Juan Diaz - This is funny, because I was never impressed with this kid. I had him pegged as going to be the first one to get beat and how funny is it that he's going to be last. He always had an impressive work ethic and punch output but I used to hate how he just never seemed to hurt people. Looks like he's improved in that regard. Still, he really will owe his longetivitey to the simple fact that he hasn't faced nearly the competition as anybody on this list except for Williams.
don't really understand your list. In some cases you write off fighters like Bojado who have failed more than once and are clearly on their way down. but fighters like Lacy and Taylor only lost once. Yet you already put them on a list like their carreers are over.:dunno: So they have to have a perfect carrer to reach some type of potential? Guys like Taylor are overachiever in my opinion. I like most never though much of him. He feasted on smaller guys coming up and jabed everyone to death. I thought he would get destroyed by hopkins and wright but he didn't. Maybe he did or didn't win some of those fights but he competed evenly with them. all 3 fights were one after the other. I can't think of many fighter who can fight Bernard back to back and then wright and come out with those performances. Especially when the expectations for Taylor were low to begin with. Where is the surprise part? :dunno: and just a reminder, Shane is old and it will show November 10th ld:
I wasn't trying to say undefeated means anything, I was just trying to make an interesting post. Fact is it's true though. Admittedly I don't think Taylor or Lacy will ever rule their divisions, and everyone else is a lost cause on that list. Lacy and Taylor may come back strong and may even become champs again, but I don't see them having long title reigns. What are you basing that on, how old he looked against Collazo?
Why don't you come up with your own criticisms rather than piggy back off of others. It's just a "fun" thread, try not to take it too seriously. By the way, it's not like it isn't true. You guys diss my thread, but fact is the only guys on the losers list who look like they can still come back strong are Lacy and Taylor and neither guy was that skilled to begin with.
i posted mine w/o reading latin king's - we arrived at the same conclusion independently - i'm not taking it too seriously - just giving you my response
lacy hardly looked like a guy bout to come back strong in his last fight that was how looong ago? jury is certainly out on what taylor does from here.
Exactly. Lacy could have easily lost that fight if old boy had let his hands go more. When he did he landed at will, but for some reason, he just didn't do it. Honestly, the reason I don't see Lacy or Taylor improving in their careers is the simple fact that the peaked so damn soon. I never really noticed much improvement from their debuts up until now, especially with Taylor who never even learned to hold his hands above his waist.
you guys are aware Lacy hurt his rotator cuff during the Typsko fight and fought with one arm for most of it. not exactly a sprained ankle.:dunno: as far as Taylor I don't know why people are so down on him or dissapointed when he wasn't supposed to be much to begin with. That makes no fucking sense to me.:dunno:
I'm not dissing Taylor, I'm stating an opinion. I don't think he'll accomplish more than he already has. Careerwise I definitely think he peaked. Now if my opinion bothers you, tough shit.
If you look in the original thread, you'll see that I said I never thought much of Taylor to begin with. I never liked him and was always critical of his picking on small guys. He was impressive against Wright and did beat Hopkins by at the least 7 points on my card, and I even picked him against Pavlik. So the point is I'm not trying to say I always knew Taylor wouldn't have a great career, on the contrary he's already done better than I guessed he would. I'm saying now, based on seeing his weaknesses against Pavilik I don't think he'll make a strong come back. I never claimed I was on some Naustradamous shit.
Yeah, because he had three fights against two guys that are light heavyweights now? That makes sense. Name ONE fighter in boxing who's had fights with the two other best fighters in his division. Maaaaaybe you have Pacquiao, but he lost to Old Man Morales, and Barrera was shot, too.
True, but since he's been matched and compared career wise with Cotto and others on the list I figured I'd throw him in.
No because other than Hopkins and Pavlik he fought almost strictly 154lber's. The guy was a flat out bully. What's you're hard on for him about. You're defending a guy I'm hardly even dissing.
