Back when both were prospects and Bojado had the flashier style and KO's and before his loss. How do you see this one playing out?
Is Bojado going to magically attain some sort of next-level hunger or something in this matchup? Bojado was a kid who was hyped like crazy because he showed genuinely surprising technical know-how very early on... Fighters are made of more than this... As you move up the ranks, things get harder, you are tested, the same things that were easy to do against tomato cans become more difficult... Bojado's career proves he was unable to negotiate those hurdles and go to the next level... Cotto's career proves he was... Bojado didn't have the heart, the desire, the work ethic to move beyond the level he reached... hell, maybe more than that he just simply wasn't good enough to make that technique work against a better class of opponents Boxing is literally fucking LITTERED with Bojados through the years... Guys most people have forgotten about now because they never made it... Guys who looked great tuning up professional losers and then turned out to be nothing special when they met stiffer resistance... You've either got "it" or you don't... Bojado never had it, he just looked like he might early on before he was exposed... Cotto made it to the world class level and then some... Bojado never even became a real top ten type of contender... He was a good amateur and a forgettable pro
agREED. Bojado is a perfect example of why the thing that matters most when it comes to assessing a boxer's ability is: WHO DID THEY BEAT? as you said, countless hundreds of fighters can look good against shit competition. but only truly great fighters can beat great competition.
