Who wins? Does quarter's jab control the fight, as odh ' s did....when he threw it...or do pbf's counters put quartey in a shell (as odh ' s largely did against quartey)...
Does mayweather jr get to take 5 easy fights then wait till quartey is off over a year, then postpone the fight and have him over train?
I don't think pbf is waiting for anyone's permission to take easy fights, or to carve out unfair advantages.
Mayweather has never fought a welter anywhere near the equal of Ike Quartey... I think Ike could whup him
Quartey never beat anyone as good as Mayweather Jr, and tended to follow a fairly predictable pattern to boot.. I think after a couple rounds it'd be all Floyd, countering and potshotting from the outside the way he did against DLH in their fight. This is assuming the '06-07 welterweight version of PBF
Agreed. I think Floyd is far too clever and skilled for him tbh, and don't think Quartey even has a style that would pose big problems for Floyd. Quartey was good, but he's become overrated, talked about as this real beast welterweight.
Quartey would need to take the test, forfeit his Ghanain citizenship, plus make the contract weight of 144 for Floyd to agree to this fight. :wack:
Seriously though, Floyd could possibly pull this one out late. Let's not forget that Ike was a notorious late round fader. The only time he DIDN'T fade late is when he knocked Espana cold in the 11th. Even in the late rounds, Floyd is constantly thinking and finding ways to adapt and set traps. I could see Ike being in control for much of the way, and Floyd scoring enough late to pull out a very close decision. That is, if we're talking about a younger Floyd. There's no doubt whatsoever in my mind that Ike beats the current version of Floyd.
