I know he still had lots left to prove, but Ayala looked pretty damn formidable and was a strong, bullish junior middleweight... I think it's asking a lot of Floyd way up at this weight to keep him off for 12 rounds... Who knows, though? Certainly, Floyd has the skills and ring IQ to do the job, I just don't know if he's strong enough that high up against a very strong guy for the division. I'd feel the same if we were talking about Pernell, before anybody says anything. Julio Cesar Vazquez was a solid guy, very strong and a terrific puncher, but he wasn;t as fluid as Ayala, nowhere near as good a combo puncher, just flat out not as talented... It's a terrific win on Whitaker's part, but Ayala is a totally different animal, different style (though Vazquez may very well have beaten Ayala)
