Affluent black family...blah blah blah...modern-day issues...blah blah blah...The Cosby Show, A Different World, Good Times, 227...blah blah blah...taped in front of a live (black) audience, whoopin' an a hollerin'...blah blah [insert nore clichés here]
Middle class white family.... blaahhh blaahhhh blahhh..... husband is a bumbling idiot, wife knows all.... blah blah blah.... two kids, son is socially awkward, daughter is a horny slut.... blahhh blahhh blaahh.... controlling in-laws who often clash with both parents..... blahhh blahhhh blahhh. I've just named the basis for like 100 white sitcoms. Fuck off!
And yet we´re not talking about ´like 100 white sitcoms´ (and by the way, you´re wrong there too), but lets look deeper at 'the best and funniest show on TV': Dad - bumbling idiot always opinionated and obviously anti-Millienial Mom - dizzy big Mama always yelling off her mouth when she shouldn't during those ´serious moments´ Son #1 - college educated 'white' black guy who says and does the right things Son #2 - tubby, bespectacled, awkward brother who says and does the wrong things Girlfriend #1 - serious Lisa Bonet-type with zero chemistry with Son #1 (Ex) Girlfriend #2 - mouthy, ghetto hoe who inexplicably but obviously used to be with Son #2 Just another cliche sitcom which brings virtually nothing new to the table. The character structure is painfully formulaic in nature. Not a single character has any more depth beyond what the you assume at first glance and the overall flow of an episode is occasionally interrupted by an awkward attempt to give itself value in discussing important social issues (Race, Gender, Rape, Military, Politics, Pornography, Mental-health)...the majority of these fall short as a lack of engaging dialogue makes any attempt to discuss "more important things" feel forced. Filled with painfully unfunny cliches about African-American families Black-ish is superior and funnier...even though it deals with simiar issues that The Carmicheal Show attempts to.
I can see how a cracker could see stuff on black shows as forced and uncomfortable. I can see how they can watch white shows instead.
Cos nikkas make the funniest, groundbreaking comedies yeah? Read posts #2 and #4, learn and move on...
