The Incredibles 2 not only crushed the record opening of any animated movie ever, but set a record so high no one predicted. The Disney/Pixar film grossed a smashing $180 million this weekend far exceeding even the wildest expectations. that is an 'incredible' figure that only event films like Star Wars & Avengers films could top...except for 'Soylo' of course! "The Incredibles 2' even topped the debut of 'Captain America: Civil War' ($179.1 million).

Moving down to the second spot, the all female cast of Ocean's 8 grabbed $19.5 million for a ten days domestic total of $79.8 million. The rebooted film had the biggest opening in the Ocean's franchise.

In the third position the R-rated comedy Tag touched a you're it $14.5 million. A tiny bit better than the studio predictions. The all male cast film was surprisingly supported by 59% female ticket buyers and might had hurt a bit "Ocean's 8" numbers.

The fourth spot was claimed by Soylo: A Star Worst Story which took $9.3 million for a to date domestic total of $195 million. At this pace the Lucasfilm/Disney movie could end its whole domestic run under the debut numbers of 'The Last Jedi'. The brand is in crisis!!!(is that a 'rainbow' logo t-shirt, Mrs Kennedy?)

Rounding the top five Deadpool 2 pooled $8.8 million for a domestic cume of $295 million. Worldwide is just $10 million shy of the $700 million mark.

This week's other new debut, the reboot, reimagined remake no one was asking for of the 70's blaxploitation classic Superfly had a so-so debut of $6.3 million this weekend. While the $16 million budget film opened on Wednesday it brings its current total to $8.4 million. The film went unnoticed landing in the 8th spot and will be a hard sell to recoup its investment.

John Travolta's Gotti not only got some of the worst reviews ever for any film, but couldn't even crack in the top ten. The film debuted in the 12th spot with $1.6 million.

The other big news this weekend: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom continues stomping and chewing the competition, including 'The Incredibles 2', at the international market. In its second week the Universal film has now grossed over $370 million and by the time it opens in North America next Friday it might have already grossed $450 million. Can it beat 'The Incredibles 2' debut numbers?

Last, but not least The Avengers: Infinity War crossed the $2 billion mark worldwide this week making it the #4 film to manage that film. It is now behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic and the champ 'Avatar'. However 'Infinity War' DID sink 'Titanic' at the domestic numbers with a current $664 million vs 'Titanic' $659 million. However it will be very hard at this point to beat fellow Marvel "Black Panther" number of $699.6 million or absolutely no chance to even reach near 'The Force Awakens' $936 million.

Incredibles 2 was pretty good. Tag was a fun movie.

The NFL and Star Wars are taking a hit because people don't watch entertainment for lectures on life and politics.
