In fact, The King Of Comedy was the second or third to last great movie he did before he turned to dogshit.
Scorcese doesn't dog shit movies. Even his subpar movies are better than most directors. Name a shitty Scorcese movie.
It's one of those movies where thicko people sit there waiting for something exciting to happen, get confused and confounded because they think "ohhhhh. ..it's Scorsese, there's going to be something dramatic here". Pop Quiz: if you can remember without looking it up - what famous rock-group got a very small walk-on part in this movie?
Boxcar Bertha didn't exactly advanced his career. The Last Temptation of Christ is a crappy movie that gets a pass just because Scorcese directed it. Had it have been directed by Kirk Cameron all critics would have given it rotten reviews.
Had Kirk Cameron directed it, it would've been an awful film because he's not a talented filmmaker... Scorsese is, fuckface
What case? If Kirk Cameron had directed that film it wouldn't bare any resemblance to the existing film ... furthermore, none of the actors in that film would be in it because they aren't going to work with a hack nobody and no decent studio is going to hire the shitty untalented hack in the first place
Let me explain this to you again since you pre-K brain is incapable to digest what I wrote: IF the actual finished film of the Last Temptation of Christ had been released and instead of Martin Scorcese's name it was Kirk Cameron the one credited as director, critics (and Clogg) would have bashed it without mercy. Ah, but it was Scorcese, the most revered American director of our generation, so he got a pass cause is cool to praise the Master.
Let me once again explain this to you... Bringing up Kirk Cameron is the daftest fucking thing imaginable because the guy is a nobody You're only reason for hating the film is religious... it is no coincidence you bring up the pathetic ratfuck Cameron for your daft hypothetical because it plays to your desire for victim status (waaah, I believe in the sky fairy and smart people make fun of me) The fact is the first is well made, well acted ... it is not a terrible film by any stretch... Showgirls is a terrible film, a "crappy" film LTOC is not a particular favorite of mine and I don't think it's a great film, but it's certainly not "crappy" and the positive reviews it received were reasonable and had fuck all to do with Scorsese (whom you seem to believe has never gotten bad reviews from famous critics) This is just a transparent "I'm being persecuted! It's like Rome circa 79 AD!" crying jag from you
