Well, I'm taking a week off from weight training for the first time in 2 months. I've had a couple of minor injuries lately (ankle, knee, shoulder), and I think it's telling me that I've been fortunate to push as hard as I have and to take a bit of time off. I have worked up to pretty much all-time strength in everything, so a break is a good idea. I'll start back easy in about a week.
And three weeks later, I am once again pushing all-time bests in most of my lifts but injury-free. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards before you can go forwards.
Woo-hoo! Training is going good. I'm injury-free and benching 265lbs for sets of 6. With this kind of momentum, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm benching 300lbs for reps in the next 3 months.
Bless you Buddy You are a good man I have been doing massive amounts of calisthenics and cardio daily Trying to get my LEAN on
You're a maniac, LOK. I can understand the desire to get lean though. I plan on doing that throughout the winter and spring. I'll probably wind up around 185-190. I wanna see how much muscle I can hang onto while losing the bodyfat.
No chance until I start trying. Two years ago I went down to 190 from 205 in about a month. Right now, I'm focused on getting 300-315lbs for 6 reps in the bench. I'm at 270lbs for 6 right now. I can probably start spring training in mid-January.
Can't do anything about the height and I definitely wouldn't want to do anything about the strength except keep it improving as it has been. Other than that, cool beans---although I don't eat donuts.
I benched tonight for the first Time in litteraly years! I did 135' 225, felt strong..315 (3plates) got 6 reps and with help 2 more.. Not very impressive I know but considering I've done only calisthenics for years I was happy
How retarded are you? You don't know what warmup sets are? Jesus Christ, dude, if you don't know why people do warmup sets, you're posting in the wrong section. I'm starting to think you don't lift weights at all. At least now we know to treat your posts like a joke.
Not very impressive? Damn dude, that's very impressive to me. I'm working up to that, but you've got me beat. What you did is actually my goal to do over the next 2-3 months.
Dick Magnet doesn't even know what a warmup set is or why it's done. Looks like Mean Mr. Mustard knows not whereof he speaks. That, coupled with the fact that he refuses to admit to being Mustard even though everyone knows, shows he's a bit of a headcase. LOL. What a clown!
Of course I know about it, Buddy..and Ive still no idea who Mustard is...even more surprised people keep going on about it?
Now that you've accepted the name Dick Magnet because, as you say, you know about it, we're getting somewhere. Why did you pretend not to know what a warmup set is, and why do you pretend not to be Mean Mr. Mustard? It's obvious to everyone and their dog that you're the racist pedant who requested to get turfed ages ago! And then you came back when you realized we were willing to oblige you---in large part because nobody gave a shit about you in the first place. Stop fooling around, admit you were that racist turd, admit your physical deficiencies, and maybe you'll be able to start improving upon your appallingly weak physical condition. 6ftwhatever, weak, and breaking bones---Goddamn, man!!! It's upsetting to those of us who root for the underdog. You hurt yourself just jogging down the road. Now that you're becoming aware of things like warmup sets, pyramiding reps, and gradually pyramiding weights, give them a shot and then start posting your results. We can't help you if you keep lying about everything.
Wow, it took you 17 minutes to come up with that pearl of wisdom, Dick Magnet? Why not just go back to Mean Mr. Mustard? "Durrr, hey LOK, why do you start by benching a lighter weight when you can bench a heavier weight? Is that common?" Jesus, you're a clueless chode.::
Buddy - Im not even going to throw back any insult at you...because you've missed the whole point of my query over LOK's post. :scratcher:
There there...let it all out! LOL. "I'm not even going to insult you---because I'm just so disappointed!" I must say, this newfound maturity is surprising since you're the one who usually starts up in here with the insults. Now start learning how to lift weights properly. Jesus Christ, the guy doesn't even know what a warmup set is. "Why do you lift the light weights first, LOK?" Fuck, it's embarrassing. ::
You go from tossing out insults to being all concerned and socially conscious? Wow, that's so evolved of you. Gimme a fuckin' break! :: You couldn't handle your own game being thrown back at you. Stick to posting in here without the insults, and you won't get your nose tweaked. :dunno:
IM not sure about you guys in different parts of the world... It's the norm in any gym I've been in to start out and load on plates...obviously doing fewer and fewer reps as you go up
Well, YEAH, it's called pyramiding, and it's a pretty basic concept for people who weight-train---but Dick Magnet has never heard of it before. HMMMMMM...that is indeed a mystery.
Well, the weight-training is going great guns, boys---and it's just the outlet I need to get out of the office and do something that take my mind off things. Starting tomorrow, I'll be going twice a day everyday albeit for 40 minutes at a time. DM got me thinking, so I'm incorporating swimming on Saturdays and Sundays, and then it's gonna be cardio 3-4 days a week.
Nice Buddy.. I got my kids doing calisthenics with me daily.. It's funny now because some days they bring it up before I do! I've been doing my cardio mostly on my elipitical but consistently
That's a great idea (Calisthenics with kids). I just used the power rack in my basement to do bench because it's Friday night and I'm home with the fam. I set a new record just about an hour ago---doing 270 for 6 followed right away by 275 for 3 with the wife spotting me---and I know I had one or two reps left in me. I'm closing in on 300lbs for 6 reps, dude. It's only a month or two away! The next goal after that is to work up to that 315 for 6 reps that you do.
