I'll admit, Golov-Canelo was bad, but it wasn't the worst draw of even the last 25 years. In fact, it's not even top 3. Three TERRIBLE draws: Whitaker-Chavez Lewis-Holy 1 Fenech-Nelson 1 In each matchup, Whitaker, Lewis, Fenech won AT WORST 9 rounds. Which one was the worst? Or chime in with a draw even worse than these three. Hagler-Vito 1 was a pretty bad as well.
I would agree, but Fenech-Nelson 1 is pretty close. Fenech dominated that fight. In a 15 rounder, it wouldn't have gone the distance, as Fenech had Nelson out on his feet at the end of 12.
Agreed. No way Chavez won 6, let alone 7 rounds. That said it annoys me when historical revisionists come trying to "correct" the wrong but making it out to be a one sided 12-0 master class.
No, it wasn't a shut out. Chavez had some early success. It was CLEAR 9-3 victory for Pea though, perhaps even 10-2. But no wider than that. Chavez definitely won at least 2 rounds. Not on the same level as any of these elite guys, but Spadafora vs Dorin was a terrible draw. Dorin whupped Spaddy's ass.
Lewis vs. Holyfield. At least Whitaker kept his WBC and lineal WW championship, which is actually the same for Lewis, but he didn't get Holyfield's titles to unify the division
lewis holyfield 1 was a bad decision but lewis was fortunate that holyfield was off his game due to the prophecy from god not panning out in round 3.
I was a YUGE Benn fan as a bairn and I definitely thought he win that fight but a draw wasn't a total robbery. The point deduction in the last which facilitated it probably was, though. MTF
Wright-Taylor wasn't TERRIBLE, but it was about on the same level of bad as Golov-Canelo. Winky beat Taylor 8-4 imo.
Lewis-Holyfield 1 Whitaker-Chavez Fenech-Nelson 1 All three equally as bad, but Lewis-Holy will forever live in infamy.
Honestly...I didn't think it was that bad. Still...I say that based on giving Leonard two 10-8 rounds without the KD. But if you only give Leonard 10-9 rounds then YES the draw was a robbery.
Fuck Fenech... Nelson was ill. The rematch was NICE. Fenech promised Nelson would leave Australia in a body bag. Nelson beat that ass right in Paul Hogan's backyard ... Fenech went home and cried while listening to his Little River Band records
Holyfield-Lewis 1 was the worst IMO. I thought Holyfield won 2 or 3 rounds. He got his ass kicked thoroughly in the 5th, hurt by a left hook to the body and a right uppercut upstairs, reeling against the ropes...and Eugenia Williams gave Holyfield the round and the fight I don't remember what I scored Nelson-Fenech 1, I think I had that 8-4, as well as Whitaker-Chavez.
You contradicted yourself. In one thread, you said you dislike ANY and ALL robberies.... but your view on Fenech-Nelson 1 is "Fuck Fenech?" Whether Nelson was sick or not is irrelevant.... Fenech dominated the fight and deserved the decision. Nelson proved in the rematch who the superior fighter was, but doesn't change the fact that he got his ass whupped in the first fight.
I actually rewatched Lewis-Holy 1 TODAY at work. First time I had watched it in like 10 years. Lewis blew it. Yeah, I still had him winning 9-3, but he could have EASILY stopped Holy that night. Vander had fucking NOTHING that night. If Lewis had shown some Golota fight killer instinct, 100% he stops Holy in that fight. Instead, he fought timid and set himself up to get screwed. I feel more sorry for Fenech and Whitaker.
Huh? I didn't say I was glad he was robbed I just said "fuck Fenech" because I don't like the motherfucker
Gotcha. I'm neutral on Fenech. Neither a fan nor a hater. Nelson was faded by time he fought Fenech anyway. A younger Nelson wouldn't have needed a rematch to stop him.
