My vote goes to Holmes vs Norton even though the one I have rewatched the most is Ali-Foreman.

Holmes Witherspoon round 9 was perhaps the best Heavyweight round of the 70s.

Best fight, I'd say the Thriller in Manilla...closely followed by Holmes Norton

Holmes-Norton for me as well, that last round just seals it.

Depends on your Definition of "Best"...

REED Picked Foreman-Lyle Because it was Action Packed, Though Relatively BRIEF...

Clearly the WORST Bout of the Trilogy, and Pretty UNDERwhelming as a Stand Alone Fight...

Ali-Frazier II DOESN'T Belong in this Topic...

That fight was devoid of drama.

With this post I have to assume that you must be confusing the Ali-Frazier trilogy with the Leonard-Duran trilogy.

I picked Holmes/Norton. In general I find later Ali fights tedious. Probably runner-up is Foreman/Lyle.

    Thrilla in Manilla IMO.

Foreman-Lyle was too sloppy for my tastes.

Ali-Frazier 1, followed by the Thrilla In Manila. Both those fights just had so much drama, and skill on display. Tremendous heart by both guys. The stuff that great fights are made of.

Not a lot of skill on display in Manila. Looked like two near shot fighters.

Im not sure how you define it but I'd say:
'Best' is Frazier v Ali I
    'Greatest' is Ali v Foreman

I'm not sure how you'd describe Ali v Frazier III because by all accounts it defies definition.

Ali-Foreman was the most dramatic for sure.

Ali schooled Foreman's dumbass and knocked him out. Not much drama at all.

Not much DRAMA??? It was arguably the biggest upset in boxing history at the time, and in front of one of the most raucous crowds ever... all screaming his name. WTFFFF you mean there wasn't much drama???

The tight rope that Ali was walking against Foreman was drama PERSONIFIED... Especially considering that everyone was expecting 'at any moment, Foreman is going to catch Ali.'

All you have to do is watch the documentary "When We Were Kings" to see how dramatic it truly was. In truth, watching the fight alone is dramatic enough. The commentary was added to the drama as well.

Foreman was 40-0, 37 KO's w/27 CONSECUTIVE Stoppages, Coming into the Ali Fight...Most Notably, Requiring FEWER than 4 Total Rounds to Vanquish Frazier and Norton, the ONLY Men to have Beaten Ali, to that Point...

Probably More than Any Other Sport, PERSPECTIVE and CONTEXT Are Everything, in Boxing...

Most of the world was born after it happened, knows who won and hasn't seen it. Actually watching it is disappointing.

    Agreed with Terp here.

In retrospect, Ali-Foreman is a bit of a bore

You had some good air-time dropping down from Roy to Floyd. :emoji_thunder_cloud_rain:
