On the last Winky interview he mentioned how Goldenboy was making them an offer where Pavlik would have his biggest purse ever even bigger than both his fights with Taylor.

He also mentioned that if it wasn't enough he was willing to fight him in Cleveland Ohio.

Everytime I read an interview with Arum he gives different excuses not to make a fight with Winky.

Hell even Pavlik, his dad, and his manager all came out in public to let it be known that they want the fight. But Arum is just not willing to.

Instead Arum wants Pavlik to fight a nobody.

Personally I want to see him fight Winky. If he can deal with Winky's craftyness and stop him I would be impressed.

I think Arum knows even if Pavlik wins due to his size and power, Winky will still make him look bad.

I don't know but I agree he's coming off as scared shitless about making this fight. It's like he has a grudge against Winky and doesn't want him to get paid or something. Don't know the issue but he's obviously avoiding this matchup like the plague.

Here's my beef with boxing. If you are my promoter and we both make money off each other bascially working as an agent. If I as a professional athlete tell you I want to fight a certain fighter then it is up to you as my representation to make the fight happen. If not I should be able to terminate our contract. Now I do believe that Pavlik deserves a soft fight but then later on in the fall or at the end of the year a Winky/Pavlik fight would continue the run of great fights that have occurred in 2007 and 2008. Just my thoughts. I'll Holla 5000

You answered your own question Latin. Pavlik could lose to Winky, don't kid yourself. Winky is murder on punchers. The conventional wisdom is that Pavlik would eventuallt punch through Winky, and a lot of people thought Tito would also!

Pavlik doesn't need a cagey veteran to derail him right now, much as I hate to admit it I agree with Arum. Pavlik has other big fights to make like Calzighe and Hopkins. Maybe Kessler.

why would arum let his new cash cow fight on a gb promotion. their offer is a joke for that reason.

wright is coming off a loss, a layoff and must come back down 10 lbs in weight. if they are weighing their options against fighting him now or letting him get older I'd say now is a good a time as any to make the fight.

I'd take a chance that Wright looks bad in this fight. He's getting older and fighting dumber which would give the Pavmanian Devil oppurtunities.

I'd actually be rooting for Pav here because I've come to dispise Winky thanks to his last few fights. The braver Winky fights the less I seem to enjoy him.

Yar cant blame Wink for his last fight, he had to come in obese in order to meet Hopkins demands, he was then stunk out, clinched and headbutted. This was interperated as, "masterful and ruthless"... .

Well, it's not like Arum and Wright don't have history together.

Arum made the Mosley fight years ago and Wright balked...despite what would have been over a million dollars (I think it was $1.5) and a career-high pay day.

I don't disagree with all of this, but a fighter is not supposed to be an agent of the promoter, only the manager. Sure, it seems like that's not the case sometimes, but it's supposed to be.
    .
So if there is some agreement that the promoter will promote a guy's fight, it makes sense that the promoter will have the say in who the fighter fights. After all, the promoter is the one taking the risk. The fighter should be getting paid first.

The manager is the guy who is supposed to be sticking up for his fighter with the promoter and discussing terms and who the fighter should be fighting.

"supposed?" supposed based on a hundred years of exploiting fighters? fighters shouldn't have promoters at all!

That's because most promoters don't actually promote anymore.

But even the ones that don't actually promote still partially control access.

i know. in some cases, it's tantamount to ownership of another human being, which is dispicable.

Could not disagree with you more.

I was wanting to see this fight long before Boxingtalk started taking their promotional fee.

I guess you were reading boxingtalk also

Maybe your not a winky fan. I'm a fan of making the best fights out there and Pavlik and Winky are the best at 160.

I could care less about Pavlik destroying duddy or Andy lee in one round. I've seen Pavlik's power I rather see him with someone hat has some defense and will make him think in there.

I'm sick to death of Wright myself, but he really should be included in every discussion involving a possible big fight @ 160. He's one of the best fighters in the world, let alone the division.

Because I've been watching Winky for almost 15 years now and quite frankly, I'm over him in general.

I agree it's like once some fighters get a certain age they just seem to lose something that makes them unappealing to me. DLH, Tito and RJJ are in that same boat too along with Hopkins.

Yeah, I just don't like whiners. Winky has done enough bitching and moaning to last five lifetimes.

I agree, though, he can fight... and at 160 I'd probably only rather see Pavlik/AA over Pavlik/Wright.
