On September 28th Main Street Jazz Productions, Inc. of Suffolk, VA U.S.A. hosted the 2007 Inaugural Boxing & Jazz Appreciation Awards Gala. Serving as a benefit for the Retired Boxers Foundation (RBF), the annual Awards Gala honors distinguished professionals of the sport of boxing for lifetime achievement and affords the fan a unique opportunity to meet his favorite ring legends, to get an autograph, to ask a burning question. This year’s honorees were Hampton Roads’(VA) own Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker, Iran “The Blade” Barkley, Carl “The Truth” Williams, Mark Breland, Ron Lyle, Leon Spinks, Simon Brown, Tony “The Tiger” Lopez, Reggie Johnson and colorful sports personality and this year’s and next year's Master of Ceremonies, Bert Randolph Sugar.
