Bernard Hopkins is at it again. During a recent interview with Lem Satterfield of FanHouse/BoxingScene.com, the 45-year-old veteran made some interesting comments reagrding the issue of race, and how it relates to boxing and the big fight between Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley, which happens on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Hopkins made huge headlines in November when he spoke to Satterfield about Pacquiao possibly avoiding African American fighters.

In November, Hopkins was critical of Pacquiao and questioned why the Filipino boxer had not fought an African American fighter with a "slick style" of boxing. Many insiders believe the comments by Hopkins were a ploy to help his good friend, Mosley, land the Pacquiao fight. This time around, Hopkins examined the difference between African American fighters, and those who hail from other backgrounds.

"The athleticism that we possess and that we are born with, most of us, not all of us, but most of us -- because I've seen some awkward black guys that can't even tie their shoes. But the blessing of most of us is that we've run the races," said Hopkins.

"Jesse Owens ran against the Germans. We're known in history. It's in our DNA, most of us. There's no secret that we are built differently. There's no secret that we have things that other cultures don't have and that they have to work to get. It's nothing that I made up or anything that was printed on a book two days ago. It's called genetics."

 

Oh dear....

 

In related news, Professor Hopkins has just accepted a teaching position at Harvard, heading up the Department of Anthropology. As a signing bonus, the university staff have all chipped in to buy Hopkins a dental consultation.

 

Black North Americans & Caribeans are more athletic as a whole, lets not skirt round the demonstrable. More fast twitch fibres, lower fat body, higher testosterone.

Hopkins does seem to be a bitter racist though. Still like the guy.

Yet, pound for pound, they can be out-performed by chinese and ukrainian girls who weigh 112lbs- in all manner of disciplines, including upper body strength, hand-eye coordination, etc.

How many Black African heavyweight champs have their been? 1. Fuck it there have been more White African heavyweight champs than that.

It's an interesting historical anomaly/bit of trivia. And worth noting for that reason if nothing else.

Since blacks actually started getting regular title shots in the 40s, there have been about 30 heavyweight champions of Black American or Carribean ethnic origin and 5 whites, if you include Tommy Morisson.

 

Of course you're right that these things interact with social factors. Massively. Hell, it could be that living in ghetto's is what increases testosterone levels (there's an established link there) which in turn decreased bodyfat % & increases fast twitch fibre distribution. Some dynamic along those lines probably plays a part.

But OTOH, you can't ignore that black slaves were bred for centuries on their physical attributes and that will have had an effect on their genes. Just like the famine put selection pressures on the Irish diapora and probably means that the biggest toughest Micks ended up in North America and the scrawny ones ended up in Glasgow and Liverpool spawning the likes of me.::

But the bottom line is that, whatever the cause or combo of causes, black Americans have been tested to have the aforementioned advantages in T, body fat % and fibre distribution. Aka to be better natural athletes.

On average obviously.

 

And how many from Africa? 1

Since 1940, you have had Johannson, Marciano, Coetzee, W Klit, V Klit, Morrisson, Valuev.......I makes that 7. As you can see, my racial superiority in counting and argument-making is already beginning to show. ::

Ironically, the physically most impressive display by any white fighter in that period would have to be the Assassination Of the Hero Riddick Bowe By The Coward Andrew Golota.

What Hopkins does, is put major pressure on other black fighters and posters, every time he has an indulgent splutter on racial supremecy,...the forums quote Hopkins as they rise in celebration with racial hatred like I saw in the aftermath of Williams - Martinez 2.

Hopkins is pure poison,..

 

10 years ago if I told you that a black middleweight with a claim to the most defences of the MW title was going to move up to light-heavyweight, beat the best Americans, threaten to beat a Welshmans white arse and then lose, nobody would have believed it.

10 years ago if I told you there was a guy from Bolton-on-Indus who was going to have handspeed that was superior to most black fighters nobody would have believed it.

10 years ago if I told you Vitali Klitschko was going to make beating undefeated Americans a habit of his, nobody would have believed it. He may yet have the beating of an undefeated Cuban.

Well, when Lennox and Vitali fought,.. they were two monsters who could wipe every other black and white person out on the planet,...the closest genetical parralells for either of those two were indeed each other,... still and all,..the most plausible theory of 'individual traits' wont help most forum fuckwits, fuckwits believe what they want to believe, and completely ignore not the facts but any adversity to personal wishes, precisely what Bernard Hopkins does,...:boohoo:

I haven't looked at the evidence around that. That also has much more far reaching and troublesome implications and basically isn't an area of enquiry any good can come from.
