Haye, the WBA heavyweight champion, said last week said he was "done" with Klitschko and his brother Vitali after talks over a unification bout broke down when Wladimir instead agreed to fight Dereck Chisora on 30 April.

Haye has vowed to retire when he turns 31 in October, and had hoped to fight Wladimir on 2 July. But he says he can no longer do that as a result of the Chisora date, while Wladimir is also in talks to fight Tomasz Adamek in September.

Wladimir, though, insists Haye can side-step his mandatory challenger, Ruslan Chagaev, and then face him in July. He said: "I don't take David Haye as a super-special fight. I don't need a half a year to prepare for this fight. I'm always in shape anyway. Me fighting Chisora first is good promotion for the fight with David Haye because the guy is also British and very loud. It's perfect to help promote the big fight.

"He could give Chagaev step-aside money and then I'm going to be there with nobody to fight. Because of our history before, I would fight him on 2 July and we would work on the contract, but I would fight Chisora first and make sure I fight.

"There have a been a lot of lies from David Haye and [his trainer] Adam Booth. We found a date, 2 July, to fight him, but I don't trust these guys any more."

The WBA champion claimed last week that if Wladimir did not fight him before his retirement date, the Ukrainian would be forever linked with failing to fight him. But the younger Klitschko brother does not believe Haye will end his career this year as he will not want his last fight to have been the one-sided win over Audley Harrison in November.

He said: "He's telling everyone: 'I'm going to retire by the end of the year and I will have my legacy.' He's going to have a legacy for the Audley Harrison fight – the most exciting heavyweight fight in history.

"He has no legacy whatsoever. He has this terrible disease and he has to retire? What bullshit is that? This is total nonsense. He is playing the media. He will not retire because he's a liar, liar, liar. From the beginning to the end, he's a loser liar. That's the truth about this man.

"David Haye is a piece of shit. He has accomplished nothing in the heavyweight division other than to present himself with his stupid T-shirt and comments. This guy will eventually fight me. He will eventually fight me because everything coming out of his mouth is a lie. But if he does retire, he'll be a loser with no legacy in the heavyweight division at all."

I think that despite what they may or may not say, both Klitschko brothers do indeed desperately want a fight with Haye. It is a big money fight, it would get international publicity, and despite the verbal and written depreciation Haye would suffer should he lose (he was never any good, etc.) I would place such a win as possibly the best win of Wlad or Vitali's careers.

So the question is - how can someone like Wlad (for instance) get Haye into the ring? What he has been doing thus far has not worked. So I say bravo. Maybe shit-talking Haye every chance Wlad gets will remove Haye from his bunker of safety and get his testosterone up. Some guys need an emotional push to foster their desire. I think Rahman's incessant trash talk and other juvenile gimmicks pissed Lennox Lewis off something fierce before the rematch, and it showed.

I am sick of unknown prospects and "Las Vegas" petty criminals being the only thing to talk about when it comes to boxing these days. Can we maybe just get one of the many obvious multi-million dollar mega-fights made this year?

I just dont think the fight will ever happen. Haye has been figured out and the more he is figured out, the less the fight is likely to come off. He's a flim-flam-man, simple as. I said it years ago, the Cruiserweight thing was all about a cheap and easy stepping stone.

Yawn. Klits vs Haye should be treated the same as Floyd vs Pac. Not gonna happen so there's no point discussing it.

Team Klitschko Doubt David Haye, No Vitali Fight in May

    By Rick Reeno

Bernd Boente, the manager for heavyweight champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, is not putting any stock in the recently published comments from Adam Booth, the manager and trainer for WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. During a recent interview with British publication Daily Express, Booth set down a challenge for Vitali Klitschko in the month of May.

Booth said: “I just hope Vitali has a bigger set of man jewels than his brother, who should go into politics and work as a spin doctor. The Wladimir Klitschko fight is dead in the water. He didn’t want it, simple as that, but David Haye’s career does not revolve around him. Unlike all the 50-odd opponents who Wladimir has fought, David is not going to sit around waiting for him."

Boente is confused with Booth's statements.

Because Wladimir Klitschko is taking a fight with Dereck Chisora on April 30, Haye is unwilling to face Wladimir on July 2. According to Haye, the dates were too close and he questioned whether or not Wladimir would be able to take two fights in a such a short amount of time. Vitali is facing Odlanier Solis on March 19. Regardless of the exact target date in May, the amount of time between Vitali-Solis and Vitali-Haye - is virtually indentical to the amount of time between Wladimir-Chisora and Wladimir-Haye.

Regardless of the date in May, Vitali-Haye can't happen until July. The problem is still the same. The first available television date that works for both RTL in Germany, and Sky Sports in the UK, is July 2.

"It won't happen in May. Again, as I said before, we are not playing games here. The situation here is the same. It can't happen in May because there are no available dates and no stadium. There are no available dates for RTL. Whether it's Wladimir or Vitali, the fight would have to happen in July," Boente said to BoxingScene.com.

Boente has no reason to believe Booth's recent comments. Booth made it perfectly clear at the start of their negotiations a few weeks ago, that Haye was only interested in facing Wladimir. Boente believes Team Haye is attempting another "Nikolai Valuev" swerve.

Back in 2009, Boente was under the impression that a deal had been reached for Vitali to fight Haye. That didn't happen. Haye abruptly withdrew from their negotiations and signed a contract to fight Valuev. Boente feels the same situation is taking place, except this time he believes Haye is using Vitali's name as part of a negotiating tactic for a possible mandatory fight with Alexander Povetkin.

"Every day there is a new story. I don't believe this because Haye said from the beginning that he wasn't interested in fighting Vitali. I think this is the same situation as last time, when he said he was going to fight Vitali and then he went with Valuev. I think he is just saying this for the negotiations with Povetkin. That's just my opinion," Boente said.

Interesting. Suffice it to say I always told people Haye would be no good for the division and thus is the case.

Incorrect. No matter what he does from this point on... he KO'd and possibly retired John Ruiz. He deserves a medal for this.

I tell you, Ruiz was done. If he hadn't been, Haye never woulda foughted him. :nono::nono:

Hey you're probably right, doesn't matter to me, Haye knocked that piece of shit out and I think he should be damnwell knighted for it.

I have seen him. His last fight was a disgrace. And at least Ruiz took on challenges. Haye is ducking asshole who is scared of a real challenge. Suprises me some still defend him.

Haye is the Wren on the Eagles back. He knows he has a limited ceiling, a limited wingspan, so he lurks and looks around for other things to help him out. Cruiserweight was all about this. It gave him multiple options. It allowed him to generate press off the back of beating some fighters who would never last pissing time in the HW division. It allowed him to have a much feted entrance to the HW division, where he then set about dropping names and talking smack, whilst not doing too much more.

I hope you aren't equating the Klits to Eagles. With all of the carrion at hw they're more like Vultures.

Ah yes, I remember now. You had already decided he was a mediocre fighter before you had seen him fight, then watched him fight and decided to re-affirm your opinion on him that had already been made up!

    Excellent.

I don't mean to defend what Haye is doing here with the Brothers Klitschko... Personally I suffered thru the disgrace of John Ruiz for 10+ years and I don't forgive it so easily. Knocking him out carries a lot of goodwill with me. If Haye KO'd and retired Ruiz then never fought again, I would still like to shake his hand.

No doubt Haye should be given some award for retiring ruiz, but shit how long can that still be awarded. Haye has fucked himself over too many times by now. With ruiz, he still accepted fights. If he lost he lost, but he fougt. Haye thinks he is the shit, despite doing nothing. Despite what anyone thinks of him as a Cruiserweight, you cant tell me that the man is anything other than a mediocre heavyweight unless proven otherwise. He hasnt fought the champs, and refuses to do so. His last heavyweight was a disgrace.

Thats a fine sentence, in terms of its language, one I would be proud of myself. However it is unfair to the brothers, who have beaten some undefeated live-dogs in their time as well as some legitimate danger-men.

When I refer to the Eagle, it is as much a reference to the division itself, to boxing itself, rather than to the Klitschkos.

Haye is a stepping-stone merchant. The easy way out, the split decision here, the shopping mall incident there, etc.

Just for reference: who do you consider the live dogs and danger men they faced?

    I'm interested in the answer.

For Wladimir: Sam Peter and Corrie Sanders. Peter was widely regarded as being just the man to club Wlad into retirement in 2005. Boxing Monthly even ran an article after the fight, entitled "Dead Man Still Walking". I would throw Chagaev in there too- an undefeated southpaw fighter taken on very shortish notice. And then there is of course our good pal David Haye, whom Wlad did actually sign to fight.

For Vitali: Lewis, Peter again {who was, as Jake alluded to, favoured by many people}, Danny Williams- heavily tipped, if not outright favoured, by many in the British press and even regarded by Ring magazine as having a very good chance, Sanders again, who looked every inch the live dog- only man in living memory to actually back Vitali up hurt, not even Lewis did that.

Johnson and Arreola were both undefeated underdogs and live ones at that. Arreola unfortunately was too heavy, too green, and too lacking in skills but Johnson, who had the skills and the speed and the fitness plotzed by deciding that Vitali would run out of gas or get hurt.

Put that in your reference book. :crafty:

Hmmm ok. However both Haye and Lewis have to be omitted as you said 'beaten'. I wonder if my general apathy towards the hw division is coloring my judgement on the Klits. This is why I asked for your assessment.

I do have to say that even the guys you listed are fairly unimpressive. Not the fault of the brothers but still, unimpressive.

Just my opinion. Thankyou for the post.

Of course- and being Vitalis former sparring partner he was always going to be a real handful. I just wanted to see if any of our Minority Reporters had the decency to point it out. Ironically, it was Vitali's somewhat laboured performance against Gomez which prompted this:

:boohoo: ,.. Fuck. I wonder if it registers with these devious patriotic journals?,..they obviously get a thrill thinking they're controlling the minds of all who read, or,..perhaps through thier whole lives, there is an automated dyslexia, an inner protection mechanism that distorts reality so thier desires recieve no adversity whatsoever, it's a sociopathic trait, where one can do or say no wrong, ......if caught, they go completely blank,.. even if it is easier to admit the truth, they probably physically couldn't.
