This is becoming quite a little hobby of mine. A nice way of combing my love of boxing with my penchant for geeking over figures in a very fun way. Really spices up the fights and keens the analysis too. Love it. Anyone else? Any fightbeat money riding on upcoming fights?
I used to bet boing a lot back in the day and blew everything on NFL bets. Have just gotten back into it for boxing, and have learned my lesson about NFL
I check oddschecker.com/ then go with the best options. Most often stan james, sportingbet & Skybet.com. In short - tinternet. Wee random tidbit for anyone betting - the aggregate of picking single round outcomes is almost always better than taking their packaged 'round group' wagers. For instance on Klit-Solis, you can get Vitali to win the 2nd half of the fight at 6/4 but if you aggregate the single round picks 7 thru 12 you end up with approx 5/2 & you can nuance & weight your picks within that too. Likewise the best price in round group betting for Pac over Mosley in the 2nd half is 9/4 but you can get make that 3-1 by aggregating the single round bets. The bookies are trying to lure you to the long shot punts, but you can take advantage of that. For the record my base bet on both those fights are decision wins for the fave, straddled by late round KOs for the faves and KOs at any time for the underdogs. I've also put a little fun-money on their being no KDs in Klit-Solis @ 15/8. Im base betting Bradley on points over Alexander straddled to cover my loses with the fight not going the distance at 3-1 and (after losing money on the Hopkins & Ortiz fights(after making correct picks, IMO)) a draw at 23-1.
I never bet enough to really win or lose anything significant, tbh. I pretty much just do it for fun. In fact I keep track of every penny and Im only £3 down on the whole deal. If the lebedev, Hopkins & ortiz fights had been scored correctly I'd be significantly up. :nono:
Play regularly, usually on thursdays/fridays when the odds for the weekend come out. Nothing on any future fights at the moment - i usually take my time or play obviously ridiculous odds. Didn't we have a thread for that lately, i thought i gave some inside on value betting... :kidcool:
We should start another prediction thread. Me & you big yin, outside in the prediction thread:fightme:
I was on a roll in the predictions league. I think Slice pulled out because of the competition he feared in me.
If we can get enough people on here to join a predictions league and anyone wishing to help, I'm up for keeping up to date with scores etc.
Yeah Im happy to do so too. I'd love for the picking to be a little more nuanced though. Something along the lines of Fighter A/B Rounds 1-4 Fighter A/B Rounds 5-8 Fighter A/B Round 9-12 Either man - Draw, SD or MD (aka very close decision) Fighter A/B UD 9 Outcomes. 3 Guesses: 10 points for guess 1 being accurate, 5 for guess 2, 3 for guess 3. I think that system would really show who is envisioning the dynamic of fights correctly& the probability of different scenarios correctly, rather than getting points just because you pick the right winning for totally wrong reasons, or even because the judges got it wrong.
Betting opportunity - For Wright-Macklin you can get both guys to win at better than evens (Betfred & sportingbet). After the draw straddle you have a risk free punt (admittedly at extremely short odds, but if you've got a couple of K to stick on there and you could pocket a couple hundred in free money).
I pop into Ladbrokes or william hill to bet. Usually never win when I put cash on boxing tho as I tend to go for the bigger prices, eg KO wins and because the odds are generally not great when you know a boxer is gonna win on points and see the odds are like 5/6 on or 7/4 etc.
