Does this mean the old sunvabitch has FINALLY decided spare himself, and us from ever having to see him in the ring again?

I don't think he's a poor analyst by any means, but Jones is so obscenely full of himself, even nowadays, he's very hard to listen to. "Smug," is the word which comes to mind, describing both his sneer & his personality. I always had the feeling with him (going years back) he made this conscious, concerted effort to come across as cool, rather than actually being cool.

I like Kellerman (in spite of his faults) & I'd like to see him stay, but as I don't have HBO or Pay-TV & only watch fights in full here & there, I won't be too upset by any decision.

Kellerman doesn't offer any insight to me. He contributes nothing of value. And you don't have to be a former fighter to do this. Merchant, Farhood, Tompkins, and Bernstein all contribute more than Kellerman does on any given telecast, imo.

I like Kellerman too, the guy is just overly excited sometimes. You can tell he is a huge fan and loves the sport though. I can appreciate that.

I like Kellerman because he is smart, but he's got some opinions which annoy the shit out of me such as the insipid Ring Magazine is the only title that matters, I hate sanctioning bodies crap.

Roy is just solid all around. He doesn't really leave his area of expertise that I can think of. He doesn't go off on the periphery of boxing, but sticks to the boxers and the fight itself. And I think he excels at that.

I thought Lennox was okay, but he definitely had some mannerisms that definitely were annoying.

I think Kellerman does come up with real insights, but I can't think of any offhand.

Overall I disagree, I think his observations and insights are over-simplified tidbits, generalizations, and cliche boxing phrases (of the "don't hook with a hooker" type of variety)

agREED on Roy, but with a three-man booth, there's no reason for Roy veer off into uncharted territory. His strength is in telling viewers what will happen, and then when it does, why it happened. In that area, he's unmatched.

My beef with Kellerman is that all he brings to the table is enthusiasm and stats. He's way too obsessed with finding a historical parallel for every fight he calls, which is probably why a pure historian shouldn't have such a job.

He's a perfect in-studio host. I actually wish HBO had this, rather than relying on its ringside crew to fill up its downtime. Too much of the same opinion throughout the broadcast, IMO.

I will say that while I'd rather see ringside crews get smaller rather than larger, Papa and Kellerman desperately needed a qualified sidekick. So in that regard, glad to see Roy back in the mix full-time.

Al Bernstein was good in the 80's and 90's.... but he's abolutely SHIT now. I dont think anybody wants to admit it, cause he's such a likable guy... but he's shot.

Steve Farhood.... I like alot. I wish they would give him Bernstein's job.

thank you. I've been saying for the longest that Bernstein has been a huge letdown on Showtime. He's given a free pass for a lot of shit, but I honestly find him to be as opinionated as they come.

I've always liked Steve Farhood, in addition to his being one of my all-time favorite writers.

Al Bernstein lost any credibility he had left once he compared Andre Ward to Ray Leonard.

No that means he´ll use the gig to start a heavyweight campaign with HBO like Tarver on Showtime.

Kellerman is trash. Max has opinions that annoy Max. Max is so acidic he has to be stored in a bottle made out of Max. Max would go and fuck himself but Max charges too much so Max is giving that a miss too.

What was the context of that comparison? Was it the Kessler fight?

There are ways that they compare to each other. Several ways.

I am near sure it was the Bika "fight"....during which Ward didn't even manage a passing resemblance to Joe Calzaghe.

It was during the Green fight. Which is sad, cause Green went the distance.

A 30+ Leonard could have moved up to 168 and destroyed Green within 6. That basically says it all.

Ward fights like a 40+ Hopkins.

I agree that Ward fights much more like Hopkins than Leonard, but acting like Leonard was some destroyer who didn't go the distance is bull.

Play some boxrec and you will see that Leonard went the distance regularly with fighters not better than Green. And he wasn't moving up in weight.

Si... but in Spanish only. In English, he's kind of tough to take in. Not due to his accent or anything... he speaks perfect English. just doesn't really seem to have anything of substance to say when he does, though.

The guys on Telemundo are good as well. I like both crews equally the same.
