Evander Holyfield: I Know Why the Klitschkos Won't Fight Me

No, I mean he knows how to get inside, how to feint & stagger shots effectively to combat length, and despite being a octogenarian has faster feet and fights with more energy than the aforementioned.

Your 'hot body' spiel is downright irritating by this point given how many times I've explained why I think being a fat lard ass negatively effects ring performance (which was mildly vexing to even have to explain in the first, as obvious as it is).

Now get in the prediction thread:Thumbs:

Obviously the thought of Holyfield going straight to a fight w/ either Klitschko is absurd.

However, I wouldn't mind seeing him against Adamek, since Main Events is more interested in keeping their fighter busy than securing TV dates.

I mention that because, whereas other promoters would stress over Holy getting approved as an opponent on HBO or Showtime, an Adamek-Holy fight could happen on one of Main Event's independent PPVs, and actually fare much better than shows like Adamek-Grant, Adamek-Maddalone, etc.

If Adamek wins, it's another stay-busy fight and Main Events makes more money than they would have against some of the other scrubs they've selected lately.

If Holy wins, he's truly earned the right to fight for the/a title one last time.

The more I think about it, the more I like the sound of it. Curious to see if Main Events would do it, since Wlad-Adamek is rumored for September in Poland.

Evander would lose and lose big but I think he'd show flashes of something interesting in there at least. And I think he'd pose more interesting questions of Vitali for spells than have been posed recently; ie make Vitali really have to think and work hard for 2 or 3 rounds out the 12 at least. And I think the Valuev fight is the most relevant, for obvious reasons.

I just can't see how Holy would do any better than Chris Arreola, who was energetic if little else, or Gomez, who perhaps even won a round. Holy few years back was soundly outboxed by Sultan Ibragimov and showed one flash of anything useful (a solid punch landed) He also got outboxed by Oquendo and early on even by Botha. So apart from Holyfield looking good in photographs I don't think he has anything at all left and based on his performances he would do worse than any fat ass who has (not) tried

You're probably right. Arreola gave it a good go at least. And I'm probably underestimating just how shot Holy is. But he wouldn't do much worse; at least in terms of showing us something useful about how Vitali might fare against proper decent fighters, which, this late in his career becomes a pressing curiosity. He can at least still put together a vigorous two punch combo on the move without stumbling over out of balance/position as his belly & man tits swing him laterally like a pendulum. Arreola fought gallantly but he looked fucking drunk every time he tried to punch on the move. 30lb of deadweight on your torso tends towards that effect.

Except he didn't lose, he was robbed.

Not to say that I don't think he should've long ago retired - but when you fuck around and have even just one night like that, the argument suddenly loses steam.

If anything, there was a better argument that night that Valuev should retire.

Holyfield looked better vs. Valuev than Haye did.

Holyfield should have been retired literally 10 years ago

    Boxing is in great shape

Yeah prolly not... don't care for it anyways, no money to be made with this one.

He's perhaps outstayed his welcome longer than any great fighter in history...

Holyfield was retired. He was retired when he was getting stripped of his licence, getting dropped by people like Ruiz, and not winning a big fight in a big style since he stopped Tyson in 1996. He's been retired or as good as and thats why he aint getting any proper meaningful fights, he's off fighting Botha instead. But a few choice paragraphs in a magazine somewhere and all of a sudden he is relevant again. God damn.

Really Holyfield shuda retired after losing to Lewis

Yeah, but a Prophet {St John of Balco} told him he had at least another 12 years left in him.

It is amazing to think that Holyfield had retirement as an option put to him in serious fashion as far back as late-92, after losing his title (& unbeaten record) to Bowe.

Who could have imagined then that all these years later, the book still isn't finished...

Surely you have heard of performance enhancing drugs in Moortugal.. (:crafty:) ...I think this is the main reason that 40 is the new 30 in boxing mate.

Would like to bump this and add that Ramonza and Hut-Hut are two delusional fucks who can't evaluate the abilities of 48-year old people - one of them a notorious oldtimer apologist so he's got an excuse.

People actually thought Ramonza was like 112 years old because of his love for the old-timers.

Terry McGovern vs Juan Manuel Marquez- Ooooh...thats a close one.:laugh11:

    Charming.

Not that I would expect much from someone called, "His Royness" (LOL). If you bothered to take in what was being said in this thread, you'd know that I, for one, expect Holyfield to get pasted by either Klitschko.

You'd have to be delusional to think Holyfield would best either one of them. Don't get mad at me if I exhibit an appreciation for fighters who were the among the greatest of all-time, just because your hero is one who can only pretend to be one of the greats, like the imitation of a legend he was.

Jeez, Holy would get murdered by those guys... Shit, a bum like Arreola would knock him into the stone age at this point, never mind the two best heavyweights in the world right now

Roy Jones was a pretty great fighter Ramonza, he would have won titles in any era.

  23. steve_dave

A greater fighter than Holyfield, surely.

  24. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

Roy did more from further out. If he was a tad bigger he would have beaten the shit out of Mike Tyson, at least the jaded, hopeless, utterly corroded version that Holyfield got stuck into.

  25. His_Royness

    His_Royness "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Yeah I can be like that. But didn't you say you'd bet your house on a safety first point win, that doesn't sound like a pasting to me.

Dunno what Roy has to do with anything, though.

  26. Ramonza Soliloquies

    Ramonza Soliloquies "Twinkle Toes" McJack

One fighter beats another 12-0...that's not a pasting?

    Pretty funny logic.

  27. Ugotabe Kidding

I just watched the bout. First, Holyfield seemed fine, bouncing and throwing shots, but didn't land anything and got hit a lot. In the third he took a whipping and bailed out with a seemingly harmless cut. I can't understand how Holy got a NC even though it was obviously caused by a punch. Holy is a joke

To my knowledge, he has failed one test fewer than Vitali Klitschko.

    Yes...Yes...now we are into it!!!

When did Vitali fail his test? Did he answer the phone when they came looking for him???

    :crafty:

Or did he get away with it?

Was he a professional at the time, who did he have up next?

    I fucking love it!!!
