Vitali behaves like a pro and Bowe didn't, I'll give you that. Bowe pretty obviously peaked around the first Holyfield fight, and gradually ate his way out of the game after that. His weight and performances show that.

I'm not that big on Bowe anyway, never have been. I don't understand why you're going off on this tangent. This really has nothing to do with Bowe.

I shouldn't have to defend my point regarding the aging of a fighter. You follow boxing, so you know all about that.

2002. Witherspoon was at his peak in the early-mid 80s.

Klitschko - Donald is a snoozefest, you make it sound like he just mashed him, he dominated him but it was hardly an impressive performance, which was mostly due to Donald refusing to engage. Bowe-Klitschko would have been a great fight if Bowe at his best showed up.

I don't think this is acceptable. There have been fighters with cocaine and drinking problems who turned in better performances against better competition before it became too much for them. This lark about Riddick having a 1 fight prime and that he ate and lost weight is one of the most carefully cultivated manure patches off time. Bottom line is he wasn't much of a heavyweight and struggled in an awful lot of his big fights and didn't make the biggest one of all.

Yes it does. Somebody said Vitali wouldn't hang with Bowe. I say he would, and base it on his fight with Lewis, his performances versus common opponents, and his other title fights.

If Donald had been a speed-based fighter then I wouldnt make the argument. Donalds jab and chin were his bread and butter game, and neither had eroded significantly in the period in question. We are not comparing 75 Ali to 67 Clay here.

Who said it was a thriller man? He did mash him. Who else ever did this to Larry Donald?

What is "Bowe at his best"?

Apparently, the flaws that Bowe showed vs Golota, Hide, and Holyfield in the 3rd fight are not allowed to be used in any discussion as this was not "Bowe at his Best".

    :shit: :shit:

Sorry, man. The fact stands that all of your points here have been laughable at best, serious at worst.

Thanks for the sig, though. I'll wear it proudly. :bears:

Oh well I am glad Tim had a peak, thats more than Bowe had.

He still lost to Saverese, whose peak was a shallow trough.

  8. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

Are you suggesting he was at his best?

  9. steve_dave

    Period.

At worst, you find my points to be serious? Thanks for the sig man, I'll wear it proudly.

If you are serious, it's pretty bad.

It's bizarre. He's also been known to bash Holyfield, because he lost to Chris Byrd.

  17. steve_dave

Wlad Klitschko lost to Ross Purrity. Period.

  18. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

I never bashed Holyfield for anything. I don't mind you making references but you have to be authentic. It would be hard to "bash" Holyfield for losing to Byrd after all, Holyfield was really past his prime, I mean, like, really past his prime, and Byrd had never been knocked out or put down by anyone at that point of his career.

  19. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

Thats right. But we are talking Vitali vs Bowe here, baby.

And I would hazard that Purritty, just for what it is worth, turned in a far better banana-tally than Saverese did.

I'm positive that while arguing the brothers case over Evander, you cited his loss to Chris Byrd. It happened.

  21. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

Against.Their case against Evander, never over.

I am positive that citing his loss and "bashing" him for it are different affairs.

  22. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

Probably. He has that Klitschko win, after all.

  23. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

    Over, against, whatever.

You said the brothers would beat Holyfield. To back that up, you said Holyfield lost to Chris Byrd.

  24. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

Purrity simply fought better fighters. Byrd, Sanders, Vitali, Wlad, Morrisson- none of them outright stopped him. Vitali did, on a cut, but of course Ross was like, 30 years past his prime by then

That said, Lou did drop a split decision to Foreman, who was a top heavyweight during the glorious 1991-1996 era.

  25. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

I said that Holyfield suffered a great many "Off nights" and cited the Byrd loss as being one of them.

It couldn't be that Byrd was better than him. Maybe Evander was just too far past his best and what with Chris being a spring chicken and all.....

I never said that they would have beaten Holyfield simply because he lost to Byrd.

    You are making things up.

  26. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

    Lou also beat Witherspoon. Period.

  27. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

Yeah, Holyfield was probably pretty far past his best.

  28. Irish

Yes, that was in 2002 though, remember?

  29. steve_dave

Don't care. Same old Witherspoon. He never changed, like, ever!!!

  30. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

And the night he lost to former 175lb southpaw, Mike Moorer, was he past his best that night?

No. He was just suffering the same way he did so often in his career where supposed underdogs got the better of him and made him look daft.

Now throw in a 6'8" 250lb underdog with a bag of his own tricks and some toughness to go with it.

    See the point....???
