With the McCloskey fight off with Khan, do you see this as the best possible fight for Khan to take back in England, to prove he can beat Prescott in a re-match then go onto bigger & better things? Aka, Bradley & Alexander.

i would like to see it. regardless of how possibly flukish it was - Prescott destroyed Khan. I am a big fan of fighters that rematch their conquerors. Especially those that comeback and win the rematch.

Khan-McCloskey isn't completely dead. Khan's still negotiating with him as well as Peterson, which kind of deflates the suggestion by Team Khan that everyone is pricing themselves out of the fight

Khan made a right wally of himself on tele there over the weekend, all dolled up in his best shirt and jacket, declaring the World and its mother to be afraid of him and all the money he brings. He reminds me a bit of Oscar-Lite....eeking out wins and then seeking out the Oba Carrs of the world when a rematch with the likes of Prescott or Maidana/Quartey or Whittaker would be far more to everybodies liking.

I hope the win over Maidana hasn't caused Khan too much damage and hasn't gone to his head with Khan drifting off in training.

Amir is the man up in this joint. McCloskey is running scared of the wedge Amir and his people bring. Amir rules here. They just box here. Etc.

Theh problem with a rematch against Prescott is that its a lose-lose proposition for Khan.

He won't make alot of money, nor would he get much credit if he beats him.

And if he loses to him again, then its just embarassing and his career as a serious top fighter is over.

His best bet is to just move on.

Half true - the second half being 100% dead-on.

But apparently HBO has already approved Prescott as an opponent and already has submitted the license fee for the date, assuming someone is selected from their list of preferred opponents.

So, the money won't change - if anything, Prescott would command LESS than guys like Peterson and even McCloskey, who at least brings in the Irish crowd (though I don't pretend to be familiar with his popularity).

My theory all along has been that if he has no other viable options (unification, mandatory, or opportunity to face legit Top 10 opponent), then sure why not rematch Prescott.

If a more meaningful fight happens in its place, then it's a rematch I can live without, especially in light of Prescott doing fuck-all since his one night of glory.

Can't think of any at this time, but if this hasn't happened, Khan-Prescott will be the first. :kidcool:

are there any? khan was knocked out in 54 seconds. has anyone else ever been knocked out in less than a minute and then won the rematch?

it just feels like prescott is khan's daddy. it was like a man against a boy in there.

Khan now, is better equipped to face Prescott, especially after overcoming Maidana. Prescott is shit compared to Khan. This Khan, under Roach, is way better than Prescott IMHO. I see a completely different type of fight if a re-match is made.

If Khan can take Maidana's best shots and survive, THIS TIME ROUND vs Prescott, if Prescott lands on Khan's chin, Khan would be able to absorb it imo.

Prescott, boxing the way he does, which is very one dimensional imo, would be outclassed in a re-match.

Khan is not the same boxer that turned up on that night against Prescott. He's improved dramatically I think.

Comparing Maidana and Prescott as punchers is like comparing JJ Jeffries and Ali

One is a blunt trauma guy, the other is speed-oriented.

thats a good trvia question... I can think of two first round KOs reversed in the rematch... Dempsey against Flynn and the excellent flyweight champion Pone Kingpetch lost his belt via 1st round KO to Hiroyuki Ebihara

Dempsey, I think was actually stopped within a minute against Flynn and then stopped Flynn in just over a minute the next time around... thats the only one I can think of that strictly matches your criteria

Dempsey was stopped at the 1:40 mark and apparently threw the fight.

    I have heard that too

just going by the official record in terms of what Rooster was talking about

Mike Weaver should have gotten the decision in his "draw" with Mike Dokes after being stopped in the first round (one of the worst stoppages of all time) of their initial encounter

good stuff cdogg. glad some people actually know shit about boxing (unlike myself).

apparently kingpetch-ebihara was at 2:07. weaver-dokes was over 1 minute too.

so either khan's gonna be the first person in a hundred years to do this, or dempsey dived and khan's gonna be the first person in history to do it? good luck young amir.

I'm not comparing Maidana and Prescott's punch power. Don't be absurd LOL.
