A little quick with the answers here. The version of DLH that fought Floyd wasn't quite shot, but not exactly peak. Maybe he wins, but it'd be a fight where I'd be tempted to bet on the underdog if the odds were right. I agree that the earlier 154 lb. version of DLH walks through Cintron. But the '07 version? I kind of lean towards Kermit in that one, or perhaps a controversial decision either way.
Vargas version of De La Hoya TKOs Cintron in no more than 6 rounds. Easy work. The version that fought Mayweather probably takes a bit to break him down and stop him late or win a very clear UD.
Ring Magazine argues he could be considered undefeated when you consider that his losses to Margarito were at the hands of plaster, and that his loss to Williams was a freak accident. Whether you think he "really" pussed out or not against Williams, there's no denying that his losses to Margarito must be taken with a grain of salt. And even if you thought he got a gift against Martinez, he was more competitive than Pavlik was, and Pavlik was very much in that fight prior to getting cut. So while hyperbole is something we're all guilty of, let's not lose track of reality here just for you to make a point. Cintron cannot possibly be even among the worst fighters you've seen, let alone the worst. In fact, when you consider the opponents they find for guys like Chavez Jr., and under-card fights on ESPN, Cintron would probably be closer to being the best fighter you've ever seen than he would be to being the worst.
De La Hoya makes Cintron quit or cry.....I think Cintron has the CHIN to take the punishment but the heart/courage/will/balls to stay in a fight he is being out punch 3 to 1...
Yup... and I don't get the argument that Cintron was more competitive. He was perhaps in a scoring sense (once you get past the fact that the fight should've been stopped when he was counted out), but I honestly don't remember scoring more than three rounds for Kermit, who hardly put up a fight until after the reversed knockout call. Anyway, all that aside, I still say he's good enough to at least hang with the end-of-his-career version of Oscar.
Cintron sucks every bit as much as I think he does you cant compare him to a sideshow like JCC Jr. This is a perenially RANKED fighter who has been on TV 100 times practically and in the scope of fighters who have had that much exposure, he is AWFUL... he is the Michael Grant of junior middleweights... HE SUCKS
Once you get past the fact that Kermit has no heart, he doesnt "suck". He has above average athleticism, and obviously can punch.
I can go along with the belief that he's received far more exposure than his accomplishments and even popularity (or lack thereof) warrant. To me, Cintron is a camera-ready type of fighter. If it were hip hop, he'd be a studio gangsta. He always struck me as being better suited for MMA (or even pro wrestling) than boxing. All that said, I still wouldn't go as far as to say that he sucks. I think X nailed it - Cintron's lack of heart is his greatest undoing.
Cintron always struck me as a solid, competent contender type, tbh. He's obviously not got any heart and he's not especially skilled or fluid but he's an ok all rounder with good athleticism.:dunno:
