    coasting?

    thats an exaggeration

coasting is Hector Camacho versus Jose Luis Ramirez, when the fight is far and away decided and you can win rounds simply by throwing a jab and a 1-2 here and there down the stretch

that DID NOT happen in Mayweather/Castillo II

Floyd won, but he hardly dominated by any stretch of the imagination and was never in any position to coast

Castillo never really got into a position to do major work on Floyd.

Floyd won the last 3 rounds pretty much effortlessly. Castillo didn't do shit.

I'm coming to the unpalatable conclusion that that little manchild degenerate is one of the very, very best fighters ever. Certainly among the most impressively well rounded/adaptable.

  4. Besides....

The only similarity between Chavez and Castillo is that they are both Mexican. I wont even say "Good body punchers" because that's redundant considering that they are Mexican.

Just because Castillo was a sparring partner for Chavez doesn't mean that he's a "poor man's version" or some shit like that. Different styles completely. Castillo is taller, rangier and busier than Chavez....chins are equal, power is equal. Chavez was the better fighter overall, sure, but how many times in history have we seen a lesser fighter overall present more problems to another fighter than the greater version?

Leonard was overall better than Hearns but Duran's experience with both, in isolation, wouldn't necessarily suggest this....

pretty much the dumbest post ever

Chavez was better at EVERYTHING that Castillo and not by a little bit... Castillo's sole advantage over Chavez is being a 147 pound "lightweight"

His style was ABSOLUTELY a poor man's Chavez... left hook to the body, straight right up top, same type of guard... rangier??? horseshit, Castillo never beat anybody at range, he couldn't fight that way (Chavez could) ...

Its getting ridiculous around here, revisionism run amok

sly believes Floyd goes undefeated in any era. No surprises here.

  7. And your hatred for Floyd knows no bounds. No surprises here either...

I dont have a problem with him rating Floyd highly or whatever, but I do have a problem when he starts simply making shit up about other fighters as a means to an end

    its absurd

The notion that Castillo did anything better than Chavez other than be "big" is ridiculous, the notion that their CHINS WOULD BE RATED HISTORICALLY THE SAME is almost unbelievable... I can not believe he actually tried to pass that off as acceptable information...

You'r absolutely incorrect cdogg. Castillo was clearly a better training partner for Chavez than Chavez was for Chavez. There's proof that Chavez didn't show up as sharp for fights when he trained by himself.

  10. Castillo had a cast Iron chin. Is that even debatable? Sure...Corrales stopped him on his feet...but Corrales, if nothing else, PUNCHED RIDICULOUSLY HARD and Castillo took all of his bombs in a toe to toe war for almost ten rounds without even flinching...and it's not like Castillo was terribly wobbly at the time of the stoppage either.

Tell me a fight where Chavez was consistently hit with power equivalent to Corrales' and then we can talk....

Most of what you say rings true here, but I'm not sure what you're getting at with this point. Castillo wasn't wobbly, but he was being held up by the ropes & was completely, utterly out.

  12. I think it was a good stoppage, make no mistake, but I've seen fighters FAR MORE HURT and make it to the final bell. All I'm saying is that Castillo's chin is solid iron.
