To be honest I was thinking double L was slowing down but that stuff is pretty impressive. I don't think he'll go back to his glory days when JL Castillo, Margarito, etc were around but double showed he knows what to do in there with his keyboard, experience is on his side.
Double L's a stand up geezer. I like that he has different perspectives on some things & will argue for them, it stimulates thought, debate, fun. He makes his fair share of very good points, too.
Double L is a Fightbeat legend. One of my favorite rants from him is when he graphically described how he wanted Ricky Hatton's family to cry in horror when Mayweather beat him.
Not good enough to stay on steve_daves friend list, apparently. I must try harder. I really must try harder.:Wah::Wah::Wah:
The Thing about Doub is he's PASSIONATE about Boxing...Back in the Days of SecondsOut, REED Genuinely HATED Doub, but Grew to RESPECT how he STUCK to his Guns, Regardless...Then, REED & Doub Did Several Tape Trades & the Mutual RESPECT Grew from There... REED Honestly CAN'T Think of even ONE Boxing Opinion he's had in COMMON w/Doub, But There's No Doubt that Fightbeat WOULDN'T B the Same w/Out Him...Doub LOVES Boxing & TRULY BELIEVES what he Posts...As OUTLANDISH as Some of his Opinions May Seem, that's Really ALL we Can Ask from a Fellow HARDCORE Boxing Fan, Isn't It???... Viva DOUB!!! REED:kidcool:
I really don't think any of the statements I made, without Steve Dave's framing, are all that off base. What I'd like to know is why some get so angry when another has a dissenting opinion. Some people really take it personally, like their religion is being attacked.
The Hopkins point is factually wrong. The others can be chalked up to opinion, the opinion of someone that doesnt watch boxing, but opinion nonetheless. I'm not mad, man. :bears:
There's actually a vid of Double L getting home last night: http://poststuff5.entensity.net/020411/flash.php?media=life.flv
Oh, I suppose I removed myself yesterday sometime between 15:00h GMT and 21:00h GMT. Not that I have any recollection of the incident.
He was saying how punches to the back of the head are more dangerous than low blows and he is right. They are by far more dangerous.
I agree. Some people do take it very personal if you have a different opinion.. I have grown used to it after the years here in fightbeat.
Bowe was a dirty fighter anyways........I'm glad him and Newman existed, its such an unedifying chapter and its all there on tape, for future generations of kaftan-toting idiots to be offended by. ray:
