Juan Manuel Marquez's Combination Punching

I probably posted this before but whatever.

He can throw a mean combination even if his breath smells like piss. Mine smells like Grey Goose.

He is no Sam Langford but pretty good for a color-film guy.

I wonder how he does those seven-punch combinations. Has he decided beforehand what he throws or is he able to think and improvise between the punches? They come so rapidly that it is difficult to believe him doing thinking, but then again he is so accurate that he must see the openings

 

He's just UNNATURALLY Accurate..

NO Fighter Thinks to Themselves, "Hey, Let's Throw a 7 Punch Combo Right Now"....Marquez Anticipates Openings & has the Accuracy, Handspeed & BRAVERY to Fire @ those Openings as Often as he Can...

I've never understood some people's dislike of Marquez (Well it might have something to do with their proximity to Pac's nutsack...). He's what boxing is all about.

 

I love Gay Marquez's long uppercuts, that are strangely accurate.

Also, his balls and combination punching are why his fights with Pacquiao are not remotely comparable to Floyd fighting Pacquiao.

 

Agreed. The difference in skill isn't incredible, but Ray had so much more talent.

Roy also threw some fun combos on his day, but he was SO fast that they weren't quite as accurate.

Olympic Leonard combination punching is still my favourite display ever.

 

I said accurate!! Leonards and Pacquiao's combination punching accuracy is not on Marquez level.

 

I think there's maybe some distinction to be made between combination punching and flurrying. Marquez is a combination puncher. Every punch is effective as distinct from the last, each thrown correctly with transferred weight. Leonard in the Olympics was really flurrying to me.

That's not a knock on Leonard, I just think it's apples and oranges, slightly.
