For those still watching the show, Vera-Mora has become interesting as the fight enters the seventh round. Vera sprinted out to an early lead, but Mora has finally begun to fight back in rounds 4-6
The Jiminez kid looked like a serious prospect. Hatley...all I could think is Charles Brewer...assuming he makes it to that level. Can't say I saw anything to make me think he'll be any better than Andrade (who I'm also not high on). I give the guy points for being entertaining.
Not really. In fact, he bitched up when the fight was on the line. He put up an effort in the 9th, but spent most of the 10th and final round gasping for air. Good riddance to his sorry ass. Amazed at how much mileage he got out of The Contender and ONE notable career win.
Yep...But U've Been "Striking Nerves" w/this Cat on the MMA Forum for How Many MONTHS Now???... REED:giggle:
Yep...Particularly w/his Left Hook...Hatley Connects w/the PALM of his Hook as Opposed to TURNING that Shit Over, Connecting w/the KNUCKLES of the Gloves... That Shit HAS to Get Corrected, Sooooner Rather than Later... REED:hammert:
REED's NEVER Billed Hatley as the "Next Great Fighter" or Whatever, but REED HAS ALWAYS Tabbed Hatley as an ACTION FIGHTER...That's what he Is...Knockdowns & Fierce Exchanges will ALWAYS B a Part of WHO he Is as a Fighter.... But like U Said (& as Muzse Pointed Out), there's ALOT that Needs to B TIGHTENED Up.... REED:kidcool:
He Punched Himself OUT in the 1st Round for Sure...AND it Took QUITE Awhile for Hatley to Recover...His Conditioning HAS to B BETTER in the Future.... REED:kidcool:
No Doubt about It... Hatley Landed a SNEAKY Left Hook, which Buckled Chatman to the Ropes, THEN, as Chatman Pursued, Hatley Landed a FLUSH Right Hook (& Grazed him w/a Right Uppercut), which Sent him to the Canvas...SHOULD have Been Scored a Knockdown, Not to Mention the Time Chatman DRUNKENLY Staggered to the Ropes, After Already Being Dropped in Round 1... Presumably, if the Ropes PREVENT your Fall, it's a KNOCKDOWN...But that Rule ISN'T Always Enforced.... Either Way, Chatman was the Guy GLAD to Get a Draw & Hatley was VERY Disappointed that it was THAT Close... REED:kidcool:
It's "Ximenez" & he's Luis Yanez's Chief Sparring Partner...agREED on Hatley...Since Day 1, REED has Tabbed him as an ACTION Fighter who Can PUNCH...Like Most Action Fighter's, he's VULNERABLE, yet there's a HEAVY TOLL to Pay to Beat him... REED:kidcool:
NATHAN BUT Respect, TWIN...Regardless WHO the Fighter in Question is.... But Having Said That, REED Can't See HOW U Can B Pro-Chatman After Tonight's Fight...Dude Could have REALISTICALLY Had 3 Knockdowns Scored AGAINST Him...& This is a Cat that was NEVER Dropped as a Pro, Ammy OR in Sparring Before (Out of his Own Mouth)... Obviously, Hatley DID NOT "Shine", but he was Fan-Friendly, which is a CHIEF Complaint from Hardcore Boxing Fans...Should Hatley have Chad Dawson'ed or Jean Pascal'ed his Way to a Safe, Boring Win???...More Importantly, would ANYBODY Want to Watch him Again Afterwards, had he Done That???... REED Honestly CANNOT See how Chatman is More (OR Less) Deserving of TV Time than Hatley...Round 8 Showed EXACTLY what Charles Hatley is All About...Athletic, Shaky Defense, Able to B HURT, Able to B DROPPED, yet a Dude w/Tremendous HEART & a True FIGHTER'S Spirit, that is STILL DANGEROUS Even when Hurt...AND, That was a KNOCKDOWN @ the End of Round 8, TWIN, it just Wasn't Tabulated... Hatley DOES Need to Go Back to the Drawing Board (& STOP Frequenting the Strip Clubs & Relax on the Wannabe Mayweather Routine), but REED Doesn't See How EITHER Guy "Lost" Tonight... In NO Way is REED Promising Greatness for Hatley, Nor has REED EVER Done So...But Dude CLEARLY Has Some WORKABLE Assets in Place...If it Can B TELEVISED, Team Hatley is DOWN for a RE @ Any Time.... REED:kidcool:
:: w/Out Even Researching it, REED is Pretty Sure that Charles Brewer DIDN'T Have Near the Amateur Pedigree that Charles Hatley Did, Muzse...Hatley will B BETTER Than THAT, Dog... & Again, it's "Ximenez", Even Though it's Pronounced "Jimenez"...REED's Suggested the Nickname "Xit Man" Ximenez to his Old Man... REED::
A Dallas Suburb Called "Pleasant Grove"...The Dallas Police Athletic League Sponsors Ximenez & the Gym he Trains Out of... REED:hammert:
An Old Ray Ximenez Article that REED's Written... http://www.northtexasboxing.com/articles/reed/rayjr.html REED:hammert:
Damn Yanez also with a Draw yesterday against a guy he already beat. Bit of a rough patch for the Dallas' finest bandwagon. Yanez chief sparring partner for Ximenez now... :dancingBaby: ::
Part of this is do to his opening his glove to catch or knock down shots. He never closes his hand and makes a proper fist afterward.
I'm not necessarily pro-Chatman, other than speaking on his level of competition. For whatever reason, he's constantly brought in as the 'opponent' for quite a few up-and-coming prospects, and is a very competitive 3-1-1 in those five fights, with the one loss coming against Andrade in a fight that was closer than those typically wonderful New England judges scored it. Hatley, OTOH, was the one taking a considerable leap in competition last night, and "just" looked fan-friendly. Plus the way he fought last night, I didn't get the sense that he was a guy conscienscious of looking good, more so than he simply lacked a Plan B. That's my concern - that and the fact that he just hasn't looked impressive at all in his last two fights. Chatman is what he is, and won't advance beyond this level. I liken him to an Antwone Smith, who fights well enough to sneak up on other prospects, but just isn't built for contender status. I'm not sure how far Hatley will go, but keeping him on the TV level from this point onward could actually ruin him. I'd rather see him put in work in the gym, further enhance his skills, and then come back on TV when he's absolutely ready to make a run.
hatley has a ways to go for the brewer comparisons to be valid. he looks like he may have brewers legs/chin. however the hatchet could bang, and hatley doesnt get nearly the leverage on his shots that brewer did with the right hand.
Do you have any idea how that last round was officially scored? With the knockdown at the end of Chatman, it should have been a 10-9 because IF the knockdowns cancel each other out, I though Chatman won the remainder of the round. It shouldn't have been a 10-8 round. I wouldn't be too depressed as a Hatley fan. Chatman is a solid fighter. But what's the deal with his weight? Can he fight at WW? Any why has he bounced around so much?
