The hour is approaching, its Chunky O'Clock my Scottish brethren!

Definitely going to this one, not often you get a West London derby in boxing.

Where would one get hands on tickets for this one? Ticketmaster?

Have to go to this too. Will be a great atmosphere.

Obviously this will be in London, just thinking what venue will get chosen. Too big a fight for the York Hall, but is it big enough for somewhere like the o2? Not sure.

Hayemaker won the bid so they choose the venue, and Groves supports the scum. Can't see it being in a stadium anyway

Question for my friends on the other side of the Atlantic...

Do purse bids in the UK (and non-"world" title bouts) work the same way as World title bouts? Meaning that the winning bidder not only promotes the fight but has an option on the winner's next bout.

The purse bid surprised me in that Hayemaker not only won but bid so high (though I don't quite get how it got away with placing two separate bids). I didn't think this was a fight they'd want this early in Groves' career, and my only conclusion was that they wanted future options on Chunky.

To be honest I haven't looked into this, but I presume if Hayemaker promotions won the bid, they can say where they want the fight to take place and have first dibs on a date which has to be within the required time scale specified. Regarding having the rights on who DeGale fights next, I don't think they have a say on that part.

Good question. I'm not too sure to be honest with you, but I'd be shocked if fish-eyed Frank allowed anyone to have options on his prized asset.

Well he'd actually have no choice - unless he pulled DeGale out of the fight altogether. But he submitted a bid and lost. Therefore, if Haye is entitled to the option as a result of winning the bid then old fish-eyed Frank will have to accept it

No later than April apparently, although the BBBofC may extend it if Groves hasn't recovered from his injured vagina in time

Nothing is confimed yet. If it is to go ahead, april should be the month it's scheduled for.

I read that Groves has an injury that could stop this going ahead? Surprise, surprise lol.

    Haha.

Got there before me buddy lol. Was Groves meant to be fighting this weekend? Kept that quiet they did if it's true.

I don't think Groves is ready for this, don't like Degale much but he would never have struggled with kenny anderson - he seems a lot more worldly and relaxed in the ring, plus being faster and harder to hit, which helps...groves has heart though and he knows degale well, he knows whats its like to beat him, but degale looks like the more experienced operator, the way he defused paul smith was impressive

  21. Now THAT is an analogy! :kidcool:

Agreed. Groves leave alot of gaps defensively, Chunky will pick him apart by punching through those holes.

I think a loss to DeGale would really effect Groves career. Mentally, I don't think he would recover.

Not sure he'll recover neurologically either.

Well the ball is in Warren's court. He'd lose a lot of (that red) face to step down now, but we know how he likes to promote everything his fighters are involved in, certainly on domestic shores.

That said, i think he goes for it. Because he's genuinely confident about his charge's chances. A year ago i wouldn't have been so sure but as both DeGale and Groves have been pushed on, it's clear to me which one has developed further.

DeGale is looking increasingly accomplished whereas much of Groves' game remains raw. However, when sizing up this one, there is a danger of focusing on that Anderson fight too much.

What Groves struggled with was the relentless pressure that the Scot applied. I don't think DeGale fights him like that...Groves throws quick and powerfully enough to capitalise on any opportunity that DeGale may give him...but with DeGale being the more well-rounded at this stage it's likely that Groves will be the first to make a mistake...and given how shakey he's looked when he's been tagged, DeGale should take him out.

Well like all his prized assets, De Gale will end up leaving Warren's stable.
