Your last paragraph goes to objectivity. How far removed from your extreme example can still be considered 10-8? Too much subjectivity for me. Scoring is already tainted in many fights, I don't believe the answer to that is to allow further systems to exploit.

Keep it simple. Less chance for 'interesting' judging decisions.

Yeah, but how many times have you seen a blatant push, trip or slip get ruled a KD?

I don't get your basketball analogy, either and I'll even put it like this - if one team outscores the other, but the other team hits more threes, guess what - the team with the most points still wins.

Officiating is also subject to faults but were talking about scoring.

The bball example was supposed to be foolish. It goes to scoring. Win a round, get a point. Knock you opponent down, get 2. The manner of the win shouldn't be taken into account unless someone hits canvas.

People want to give 10-8 Based on nothing more than opinion. That's not the way scoring should calculated. Let me ask you: at what point can a fighter completely dominate a round but not get a 10-8 in your system? Far too open to bias I think.

There's already huge sections of scoring devoted to opinion. I don't see why this should be black-balled. I am for 10-8 without a knockdown in rare circumstances, & I don't think there's anything expressly wrong with the concept.

Yes but I'm not talking about opinion deciding who wins a round. I'm talking about opinion granting extra points based on subjectivity. Scoring should be as close to uniform as possible in all cases. The idea of 10-8 is not completely abhorrent to me, I believe in the current system it is unquantifiable and introduces an opportunity for bias.

I don't think any of us are going to budge on our opinions here but it certainly is refreshing to be able to have a civil point and counterpoint debate on here. A pleasure.
