Woooow! He won an OPENWEIGHT Grand Prix where because of an injury he didnt even fight the toughest guy he'd fight in the whole tournament. So Coleman beats 2 cans and a quick win over Igor and apparently he was the shit. Then again, Maurice Smith beat him...so....
Shit division. :atu: Says the guy who thinks the HWs aren't and haven't since MMA's inception being the biggest cesspool in sports. Sem Schilt and Bum Rogers have been ranked top 10 at that retard-o way class.
All ranked fighters... Sakurai being a top 5 p4p at the time of Anderson's win... You wouldn't know that though, because you know nothing of the sport other than a few PRIDE highlight reel KOs and a few HW fights.
No, but it's still a "blemish" on his resume. And again, I'm still waiting on someone to tell me the great fighter that Cro Cop beat? Honestly, wins over Herring, Coleman, Fujita, Barnett are impressive but in retrospect don't equate to being an All Time great.
Actually no, Franklin had never been submitted or knocked out at 185. His lone loss before Silva was at 205 to Lyoto Machida. And Silva destroyed Franklin. Meanwhile Cro Cop had previously been knocked out by Kevin Randleman. And Fedor did not even come remotely close to destroying Cro Cop.
Absolutely not. It's subjective but I don't see one single win on Cro Cop's resume that is clearly better than Franklin's. To me, it's like this. I think Josh Barnett is Cro Cop's biggest win. He Barnett far better in terms of lifetime ranking than Yushin Okami? Personally I don't think so. ( Beating Wandy at an Open Weight is NOT a big win in my opinion)
Maybe, but the fact is that he had 3 fights under his belt when he fought Cro Cop. I don't care what potential he had, he was NOT a big win at that point. He just wasn't.
The last 5 are about as relevant as mentioning that Cro Cop got beaten by Cheick fucking Kongo, and Gonzaga. Or more relevant than Coleman losing to Maurice Smith. :giggle: Or Randleman losing to Ron Waterman a fight after his fight with Fedor. :giggle:
Wow Trip, are you drinking? Are you seriously saying that Franklins resume is better than Crocops? The wins over Barnett blows the win over Okami away. The Okami fight was extremely boring with Franklin winning a lackluster decision. Barnett was destroyed and was also a much better fighter than Okami. Are you serious??
Zuluzihno got kimura'd by a fat circus show boxer dubbed Butterbean. Wait, why am I playing the hindsight game with Zuluzihno...he's Zuluzihno!...
Actually, you must have missed Barnett's second fight with Cro Cop. It was every bit as lackluster as Okami-Franklin. And I'm just saying in terms of wins and the way Silva handled Franklin compared how Fedor beat Cro Cop, Silva's wins over Franklin impressed me more. Silva destroyed a guy that had never been handled by anyone at 185 pounds. Resumes are subjective.
Sonnen got stopped by Terry Martin Forrest got stopped by Keith Jardine Leites got beat by Sakara Irvin got subbed by Olivera Marquardt got pounded by Sonnen Fryklund got subben by Denny Works on everyone, homie.
True, but there was no one at 185. Period. Silvas win over Franklin was good, but not great. Franklins best wins were Okami and Nate Quarry. Seriously? Quarry?
It's funny with Barnett. He beat Nog and I thought the dude was the shit. But he gets popped for roids AGAIN and then looks like shit in the rematch because he was probably clean. Seriously, I doubt this dude has one decent win that wasn't aided.
When PRIDE was still in its heyday, CroCop was consistently a main event fighter as was Fedor. Many. MMA purists agree that PRIDE events were better than the UFC events. 5 yrs have passed wich is like 50 yrs in terms of the evolution of the sport. Back then, CroCop was so highly regarded that when he made his UFC debut against the mexican dude with the bolnde hair (eddie something...) that Rogan and Goldie were giggling like they just met Brett Favre. Hindsight is 20/20, guys. Hell, even David Loiseau was a top MW contender once upon a time. Ricco Rodriguez and Tito Ortiz once looked unstoppable. In his prime, CroCop was the shit but to appreciate it - you had to be watching the fights when they were happening. Not 5 yrs after the fact on youtube. The p4p argument is pointless and really holds no merit. Anderson is the shit - nowadays. Before him, Fedor ruled the world. Times change.
