He has the build of his father but it ends there. The guy has no jab, no big right hand, nothing.

Yeh i watched the sturm fight this morning. He's very basic, no head movement, little power imo. He didn't try to change anything during the fight. His jab was very ineffective and rarely attempted to work to the body. Sturm's jab was landing throughout and hearns' left eye i believe was nearly completely closed.

'Not even on the JCC level or close'. Post 2.

Hearns was a joke of a title contender.

Don't get mad. One day beating a champion means nothing. The next it does according to you.

After another 15 or so views, I just want to reiterate what I said yesterday - that's the best punch I've seen since I started following the sport.

    Exquisite move.

That's how it started...and Donaire's been very open about the relationship with Conte, he's been on local tv stations and what not doing side-by-side interviews with him.

According to Lem Satterfield Andre Ward no longer works with him:

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ward were on PEDs. The guy never tires.

    Kellerman's dead weight either way.

Jones makes Kellerman absolutely irrelevent on the B.A.D. broadcasts.

If you don't know the difference between baldomir and montiel, I can't help you.

Don't change the subject. Your the guy that says a title defense means nada and beating a champ means mucho.

I had both Donaire and Montiel as Top 10 P4P entrants going into the fight, Donaire ranked higher but perhaps just outside of the Top 5.

Donaire's problem is that not enough people paid attention, though that's his promoter's fault for keeping him almost exclusively on PPV. But from Darchinyan to present, he's only struggled in two fights:
    - against Moruti Mthalane, in which he was out for nearly 11 months while dealing with Shaw in court in order to completely break free of his contract
    - Rafael Concepcion, who didn't even attempt to make weight, came in more than a full division over the junior bantamweight limit and was a junior lightweight by the opening bell.

In his four biggest fights - Montiel, Darchinyan, Raul Martinez and Wladimir Sidirenko - he won all but knockout, dominating each of them in the process. I can see the argument for keeping Marquez close to the top. His overall body of work and that he's still the best LW in the world has earned that spot.

Everyone else? Show me a level of dominance against their best opponents to match that and I'll concede that Donaire doesn't belong. Otherwise, I'll continue to argue that he's not even close to being overrated

And again, how much more credit can i give Floyd than to call him the best boxer in the world. He isnt the best boxer in the world because he beat Baldomir that's for sure.

In the G-father view of boxing, Alvarez-Hatton is a better and more significant fight than Martinez-Dzinziruk...that is if it comes off.

Not that it matters, he won't be watching either.

I dont know about better. i cant see in the future, but if Hatton wins it would be more significant.

I find this statement to be hysterical, since Montiel is part of the actual thread subject and not Baldomir (or Floyd, for that matter).

Er no, I cannot see how you would come to this conclusion. Dzinziruk is a 154ib titleist who is a proven world class fighter, Martinez is the MW champ. Hatton is a scrub, Alvarez is a prospect - a scub beating a prospect, a prospect beating a scub - neither means a whole lot in the scheme of things relative to the previous match-up.

I just dont see Hatton being able to pull it off. I see Hatton going to sleep and going to sleep early. If Hatton were to derail Alvarez and win a title in the process, that is pretty significant.

Alvarez is as much of a stick on as Sturm was. Another guy in a world title fight because Daddy shagged mommy.

Except that Alvarez hasn't done much either; if he loses to hatton, he's no good. If Hatton wins, we already know he's no good (or as anyone who has followed him wil. attest to) so it won't matter anyway...

Man, it still amazes me that Montiel was the heavier of the two on fight night. He looked 2 weight classes smaller to me.
