The 2008 Olympian was in action over the weekend in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama...won on a second round TKO.

The opponent, Abron, had lost his last five entering the fight, and this fight might have been his first heavyweight fight.

Needless to say, a statement win by Wilder.

I don't know if he'll win any titles in his career, but I think it's safe to say if he does, it won't be "soon".

They're going very slow with him...and that seems to be the right approach.

Credit to Wilder for continuing to stay active...seven fights in '09, six in '10...but let's be honest about the level of competition he's fighting, it may be a while before he's even fighting recognizable stepping stones.

But he's busy, and he's bringing boxing to Alabama.
