Almost all of Mayorga's losses are by stoppage at that.

Wouldn't be shocked if Floyd stopped him.

Or possibly the term "neutered," which is what Floyd would do to Mayorga. Mayorga wouldn't win a round.

Personally even back in '06-'07, I was never very impressed with Margarito. I'd pick Floyd by a 9-3ish UD over him.

Same here. No question, Floyd would have always won a comfortable decision over Plasterito.

    Especially without his magic wraps.

I think scoreboard wise it would be comfortable, but Mayweather would have to earn it even though the talent gap is wide. It wouldn't be something like Whitaker-Haugen.

mayweather jr would not have been impressive vs either mayorga or margarito. both would be boring victories as would be the case against most strong, durable welterweights mayweather jr is able to defeat.

Floyd has only fought two guys who fit the description of "strong, durable welterweights." Shane Mosley and Carlos Baldomir. Only one of those fights could have been perceived as "boring."

In any case, Mayweather-Mayorga would look worse than Mayweather-Gatti.

Exactly. It would be physically tough and he wouldn't get a minute.

Pac had a much tougher fight than the score cards suggested and Magarito was a much better fighter 4 years ago. (lets not get into plaster speculation, none of us know)

I don't think Tony was ever good enough to beat Floyd, but of the guys around at that time I think he or Paul Williams definitely would have provided the toughest fights.

    Um, no it wouldn't.

Mayo is bigger, better, faster, and stronger than Gatti. Gatti was ridiculously outclassed.

On sheer size/strength/ferocity Mayo would at least have a couple of moments against Floyd, even though he'd ultimately get schooled.

I agree with all of those things sans "better".

Mayorga had as much technique as a local bar fighter.

Yeah it's a lot easier to take weak punches from a scared and broken fighter than it is to a guy who keeps punching you in the face cleanly 40-50 times per round.

If Floyd hurts a guy, it's with a big counterpunch he didn't see coming.

Not a generic 1-2 on a braced, tucked chin.

Zero chance of a Floyd stoppage in this one.

    Come on..

The talent difference between floyd and even verrnon is huge

Floyd is so sharp.. He is not wild and sloppy, he be making Mayo pay constantly and it would add up

PBF aint hurting a prime Mayorga. If anything he would be running for his life and maybe winning a very boring dec.

Ok..to clarify. I didn't actually mean knock him down five times and stop him. I mean "Corrales" him without the KDs. Margarito, like Corrales would have been reduced to a one punch at a time face first dummy, forever chasing a target that he hopes would be stationary eventually..and getting tattooed continually for his efforts. Same stylistic matchup here.

Floyd dosent have the power or the balls to engage a prime Mayorga. Sorry but it aint happening. Watch the Trinidad fight @160 or the Forrest fight and explain how the hell PBF stops or even hurts a prime Mayorga @147. :nono:

Floyd is an underrated body puncher. I agree that a stoppage based upon head punches is highly unlikely, but Mayorga is a little soft in the body and Floyd can bag down there. It's possible..but I agree..unlikely.

Fair enough but I dont recall Mayorga ever being hurt to the body @147. Only time I ever seen him hurt to the body was in the Trinidad fight. In that fight he was way off his best weight.

Tony cuts off the ring a bit better (if only because he's rangier & uses it) and throws FAR more punches, including punches while under fire. In other words Margarito was far less methodical, thoughtful, judicious than Corrales. He'll just throw indiscriminately, while Diego was always looking to set up impactful shots. Tony was also faster IMO, even at welter. Very different styles, IMO. One's a swarmer, ones a slugger.

Also, just leaving those things aside, Floyd's relative inability to put a dent in Tony would change the dynamic of the fights allot. Corrales was brave, but Floyd got his respect early and that always gives a counter puncher welcome space & time. Floyd also wasn't as mobile at 147.

Bigger and stronger, yes. Better, no. "Bigger and stronger than Gatti" isn't going to get him very far in a fight w/ PBF.

Mayorga is better than Gatti....make 'em both the same size w/ their god given skills and Mayorga would brutalize Gatti....

Mayorga will do what he always do...come forward winging...he will win a round or two...
