First time i've seen this guy fight (vs De Leon), and he looked sharp and definitely has talent. Fights under Golden Boy promotions, is 21, a record of 20-0-0, 16 ko's, super featherweight. Has got confidence in his ability and likes to showboat abit too lol.

What's your thoughts on this guy people?

De Leon beat him clearly. More style than substance.

he's boring. de leon outworked him and he was the much smaller guy. personally, i dont care to see him on hbo again.

De Leon out-skilled him for the most part.

I thought Bronur was picking his shots better, plus de leon landed alot on bronur's gloves and arms. I'll re-watch it again later to get a better view of it.

He's still very raw. Ponce exposed him a bit. He's not even close to ready for the big boys and he's not entertaining enough for me to want to see HBO wasting any more fight dates on this kid, for a very long time.

It's easy to have great timing when all you do is pot shot counter, one punch at a time.

Did he follow through on a single legit combo in the entire fight?

You may have a point. He definitely hurt de leon tho a few times, i'm currently at work, but i'll watch it again later to get a better understanding of the fight.

Good Lord, what were you watching? He was a complete safety first bore fest and on top of that he thought he was some kind of gift to us viewers with all of his stupid dancing and show-boating. He shouldn't be in a boxing ring if he is so scared of getting hit that he refuses to engage and open up.

Edit: He also looked like a mini Michael Strahan sans gap

I doubt he goes anywhere. Extremely cocky for the limited fighter that he is. The guy acts like he is a worldbeater already.

The sad part is that Broner is naturally two divisions larger (and several inches taller) than Ponce de Leon, yet still fought the way he did.

He reminds me of a fighter who spent too much time in the amateurs and has no clue how to change up. My guess is that GBP will nibble around the edges until they can find a way to buy him a title, but I wouldn't be surprised if that path ultimately mirrored that of Daniel Jacobs.

Like Faaaaaaaaaaar Toooooooooo Many Black Fighters of the Last Couple Decades, Broner Severly UNDERutilizes his Jab...WHEN he Threw it, it Landed AND Snapped Ponce's Head Back, but Broner Seemed Content w/Firing Lead Right Hands for the Most Part...

REED Liked how Broner Stayed IN the Pocket, but he RARELY Threw Anything While There...The ENTIRE Fight, Broner's Corner PLEADED w/him to Fire Combinations, but he NEVER Did...Perhaps he Needs a FRESH Voice in his Corner; Someone he'll Actually LISTEN To...If Broner had Simply JABBED & CIRCLED Ponce, he'd have Eventually STOPPED him in REED's Opinion...Stylistically, Ponce was TAILOR MADE for Broner...

I thought it was funny when they talked about Broner turning off the video of Ponce De Leon because he was bored by it and put on video of Floyd Mayweather to watch instead.

Less then 30 seconds later, Broner flashes a classic Floyd shoulder roll, followed by a Floyd forearm to the chest push-off.

Unlike Floyd, he didn't follow it up with a quick combination to his opponents head. Just sort of turtled it after that.

And that's why HBO, and boxing too unfortunately, has become has dull and uninteresting as it is. I had never heard about Bonner before the Ponce Deleon fight, he stuck out the joint and wins a debatable decission vs a far smaller guy that was brought in to be slaughtered. Yet, he gets rewarded with another HBO date, probably vs another hand picked opponent. Should make for great tv
