On the undercard of Cotto-Mayorga. This fight, along with Foreman-Wolak are intriuging enough for me that I'm gonna order the card on Sat(even though Mayorga has basically no chance). Vasquez has good skills, and is a pretty underrated technician, while Zappa from what Ive seen has excitement written all over him, and can crack with his right hand. It might be a helluva fight.
Vazquez is solid, but the epitome of monotonous. Lenny Z is basura. A knockdown wouldn't surprise me - Zappa can punch and Vazquez' chin isn't the greatest - but a puncher's chance is all that I give Zappa. Brother X, God bless you if you can find Foreman-Wolak intriguing ::
Why is Zappa basura? I'm not questioning you, as I'm sure you've seen more of him than me. Just asking. And Wolak-Foreman could be a somewhat decent fight. Wolak is limited, but determined... and Foreman thinks he's Ali, but is fairly hittable. But still, Foreman should outpoint him handily.
I don't know... just don't see anything there. He can punch, but doesn't seem to do much of anything else once that doesn't work. Average boxing skills at best, shitty defense and paper skin. I always felt like if not for Vic, he'd be a protected attraction at home and irrelevant to the rest of the sport. So maybe that jades my opinion of him a bit.
Gotchu. Watching Youtube vids of him, I was thinking if he won on Sat that it'd be exciting as hell to see him fight Rios. But almost certainly Rios would destroy him... even if he does get by Vasquez.
Rios would... I'll put it this way. He'd look so good in that fight that Mexican Wedding Shirt will ponder Bam Bam's chances against the winner of Wlad-Haye.
I don't disagree that this card sucks (and that's even with Christy Martin removed). But Roy's last two HBO-related PPV cards have been the worst I've seen in years - on paper and in reality. Hopkins-Jones Mora-Calvin Green Litzau-Juarez Narh-Hernandez Syllakh-D.Judah Calzaghe-Jones Salita-Derrick Campos Zab-Ernest Johnson Figueroa-Augustus At the very least, by far the worst two under cards HBO PPV has ever produced.
Ah good point. It's what I get for not watching it :: Honestly, this is as bad as the last time Showtime aired a PPV event - fittingly enough, also involving Mayorga (v. Vargas). I forget the complete lineup, but any show where Kermit Cintron-Jesse Feliciano is your chief support is never a night to remember.
For what it's worth i am going with the upset in this one. I like Zappa to win by TKO. I don't really like Vasquez so i hope Zappa gets the W.
