If they were to fight soon, who wins? Keep in mind Andre Berto, despite me not rating him very high, would be the best fighter Alvarez will have ever faced.

I can't see Berto making 154. In fact he looks maxed out at 147 and not very effective to boot

Berto is very fast. I don't think Alvarez can handle that type of speed. The question still remains in my view, how hard of a punch does Saul really have? I dont think he's a big knockout puncher like most people thought he was. I favor Berto in this one via stoppage. He will slice Alvarez up with that hand speed!

Alvarez vs Cintron seems more appropriate to me. Berto may never move up to 154. Like Jake said, he seems about maxed out. He's small at 147.

I can't even begin to guess how Berto would do at a weight he's never fought at.

Berto dosent have to come in right at 154. He can come in @150 and use his speed advantage.

Neither are terribly good. Could go either way.

I agree. Much like Judah I feel Berto should be at 140. Bulking up with all that muscle wasn't the best idea for his future although it may help finacially and since he obviously doesn't have to prove he's a legit champion, it's all good in Berto land. I mean if you never fight anybody worth a damn, it can't be that bad to be a bit small for your division.

Anyway, I think if you look at this from a p4p perspective (where it'd be fair) I'd slightly favor Alvarez. Berto looked like shit in his last fight which could be from the long lay off. However since he's currently on another long layoff I can't imagine he's going to get sharpened out anytime soon, so yeah, I take Alvarez.

If you're talking about them meeting at a catch weight I definitely take Alvarez.

Canelo cant get hit as often as he did against Hatton, and hope to beat Berto.

Berto is no star, but two things he does have are extremely fast hands, and good power in his right hand, and right uppercut.

Given Berto's chin however, I wouldnt count the Ginger out.

Two of the most overhyped fighters of recent times.... I'd pray for a double KO.

It needs to be taken into account that I did not catch Alvarez' fight last night so take my last few posts about him with a grain of salt. But even still you can't count out how badly Berto looked in his last fight. The hand speed was barely there and he just looked like shit.

In Berto's last fight he starched Freddy Hernandez with one right hand.

They are both mediocre at world level, but Berto is MUCH faster and not as easy to hit, so I pick Berto to stop him.

FWIW, I'd lean towards Alvarez at 154. Berto is all trans-fat sizzle and a minging shrivelled steak that looks like re-soaked jerky.

FWIW, Berto is bigger than Alvarez. They are the same height, but Berto is noticeably thicker and more built. I guarantee if they were in the same ring Berto would look the bigger man.

Ginger is fucking small at 154. He was barely bigger than Matthew Hatton, if at all.

I'm starting to wonder which fight you're actually talking about. Before Hernandez, didn't he fight Quintana? The only thing bad about Berto in that fight was his inability to draw a crowd of any kind in his home state on a night dedicated to relief for Haiti.

I forget in which order he fought Forbes and Urango. He fought one before Collazo and one after. He looked lethargic in both fights against 140 lb. guys he probably should have toyed with, if not knocked out.

Berto looks built up to me, Alvarez is broad.

Aff, Im not gonna put any effort into defending this opinion  Both are so mediocre I don't even care who would win.

Alvarez desperately needs to work on his right hand. He's more 1 handed than Oscar ever was.
