Well, in other words. Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm versus Shinya Aoki on Strikeforce's April 9th card.
something tells me TLC subs me out.:: Lyle says he is going to copy Melendez's gameplan. The problem is, Lyle doesn't stand with anyone. Hoping for the best here, but not at all confident in my boy.
Yeah, Beerbohm was beaten by Pat Healy less than a month ago. Aoki is probably the worst highly ranked fighter walking the planet but Beerbohm doesn't appear to have the skill set to beat him. But let's be honest. Strikeforce needs a name like Aoki to look good and get a win. He was a prized catch until Melendez made him look like a local circuit fighter..
Lyle has power, he is just such a typical wrestler that is what he relies on everytime. Take em down, pound em out. Strikeforce isn't really great for Lyle because of not being allowed to drop elbows. He has vicious elbows from the ground and pound.
Couldn't agree more. Healy almost subbed Lyle too. It doesn't bode well for my homey. I got his back of course, just not very confidently:scared2:
Jarhead, you should tell Lyle to use his wrestling to keep the fight standing ala Chuck Liddell. He can't be a worse striker than Aoki. That might be his best chance. He probably gets subbed if he takes Aoki down.
Thats the plan as he says it right now. Just between the guys on this forum, though, Lyle blows at sticking to gameplan. As soon as he gets hit or even feels uncomfortable he goes for the takedown. He needs to keep this standing.
I wanted to bump this as it appears our young Jedi knight and Jarhead will be entering into a signature bet on the Aoki-Beerbohm fight. Jarhead is banking on a take-down followed by mind numbing ground and pound. Meanwhile, I would guess TLC is anticipating a little stand up followed by some crazy voodoo submission move that only Aoki can pull off. Ahhhh, let the games begin.
