You would have right BEFORE the Cain fight. I don't think anyone is overrating Lesnar now. In fact, I think people might start underrating him based on the struggle with Carwin and the beating by Cain.

If anyone has Lesnar in their top 6-8 HW's, then yes they are definitely overrating him.

Hell, I can remember Lesnar getting P4P mention before the Cain fight. WTF???

Ah, well I thought he was still rated high, as in top 5 HW.

I didn't realise the Cain fight did THAT much to change people's minds about him.

I'm not pointing at you specifically but it's amazing how some fighters (i.e. Shogun) get away with blaming poor performances on injuries while others don't get the same consideration.

With Shogun I have always been skeptical. I don't doubt the knee injury but I think his loss to Griffin went deeper than just poor training due to an injury. Seriously, doesn't anyone else think it was a combination of fighting in cage, fighting a big 205 pounder, not having some of his best weapons (soccer kicks, stomps) due to the rules?

Honestly, no. He just looked lethargic, bored, and crap. Nothing like the Shogun of olde.

The same Shogun that showed up to Machida both times would throw Forrest a vicious, one sided beating.

You know what, I have to take back what I said. I just read 3 different publications and they all had Lesnar in the Top 5 at HW. That is overrating him.

But it's probably not the worst case. For example, those same publications had Shinya Aoki ranked at 3 or 4 at 155 pounds. That's insane.

Machida and Griffin are completely different fighters. That's why I can wait to see Rua and Jones. Jones will push the pace and it will be interesting to see if this is really the old, Pride version of Rua. But if Rua wilts, then he is just the same guy that got choked out by Griffin.

I'm not sure that's the fairest benchmark either to be honest.

I think Jones is significantly better than Griffin.

I pick Shogun, but wouldn't be shocked if he lost to Jones.

Well, I'm not really talking about beating Rua. Jones will be the first fast paced fighter he's faced since Griffin. I just want to see if he can keep up especially if they grapple early and ofter.

Jones is much better than Griffin, but they both are non stop. They don't hunt and peck slowly like Machida. Machida's countering style allowed a very slow pace.

No doubt about it, Jon Jones will get ZERO credit for beating Shogun. He will have been injured. He only loses or looks like shit injured.

You might be right about that, however, if Shogun is mobile and has good stamina, Jones will get credit. The guy that fought Coleman in the UFC is NOT the same Shogun that fought in Pride.

Dude, get real. I won't argue Lesnar because I just don't care where he's ranked.

But Aoki being at #3 in anyone's LW rankings is ridiculous. Other than you, I don't know anyone else that would rank him that high.

The dude is less than a year removed from being treated like a dog that just pissed on the carpet by Gilbert Melendez. And he's less than 4 months removed from being laid out cold in a freaking exhibition bout.

Seriously, I wouldn't make Aoki a clear favorite to beat the middle of the pack guys like Guida, Cerrone, Guiilard, Miller, Siver, Dunham, Fisher, Stephens.

Yeah, so what's the excuse for gassing and looking like shit in the Coleman fight?

A year and a half on the shelf, rushing a comeback after major knee surgery.

No he isn't. Against an elite heavyweight in Cain, he folded like a fucking deck chair.

Rushing a comeback? The dude had better than a year post surgery before he came back against Coleman. Athletes from the NFL, NBA, Hockey, are typically back playing 8 months post ACL reconstruction.

I love it. Rua gets a pass for being destroyed by Griffin because he hurt his knee. And then 17 months later he gets a free pass for looking like shit against Coleman because he only had a year to prepare.

This doesn't look good for Rua going in against Jones. Hell, this time Shogun is fighting a mere 9 months following knee surgery. It looks like he's got a ready made excuse for gassing again.

    Hilarious.

No it's because I don't own a pair of Aoki colored glasses and don't have a hero worship fetish for a guy that looked like a bum his first time fighting outside of Japan.

He had a scope this time, not reconstruction.

8 months? Try a year buddy.

And yeah, 17 months on the shelf is bound to hurt anyone's cardio, especially when you've spent most of it doing rehab.

But continue to act ignorant to the fact that injuries play a big part in MMA. It's funny.

Only an idiot and a pure UFC nuthugger would think the likes of Jeremy Stephens, etc, would even last a round with Aoki.

Yeah right, a big puncher has no shot against Aoki. Are you drunk?

    Correct.

A big puncher with no other skills has no chance against Aoki.

Otherwise I'm fairly certain Eddie Alvarez would've beaten him, and Eddie is actually good.

If you knew anything about MMA this might be valid.

This is basically the type of gung-ho response that shows most people don't think about the stuff they type.
