This would be a dream match IMO. I dont even know who wins. Both have great wrestling. Couture was also an Olympic Alternate on a number of occasions. That and both these guys train together
You mean they trained together when they were both a part of Team Quest. Didn't Couture leave that behind quite some time ago?
Randy still Trains with Team Quest at times i believe. I know randy started his own Gym, but i believe these guys on occasion still train together. It was a few months ago, i was watching Inside MMA and they interviewed Randy at one of the Team Quest camps.
yea that was a great upset at the time. belfort was beating up tank abbott and that other fat guy and everyone thought he was the truth.
not sure if there's a single guy that henderson beat that lidell couldnt have beaten with an exception of minatoro. it's arguable that henderson could have beaten lidell, but i wouldnt go as far as saying he's MUCH better.
That said, I'm changing my pick to Couture. It's tough though, because Prime Couture didn't have much in terms of subs, and Hendo obviously has a huge right hand that could land at any point in the 25 minutes. But Randy is the bigger dude, better wrestler and had better cardio. I think he wears Henderson down for a trademark UD win.
Im not basing that on who beat who, im basing it on their overall talent. Talent wise, Henderson has more tools. THAT being said, i dont see Chuck beating Renzo or Pride's Wandy. I especially dont see Chuck beating the wandy that beat Sakuraba.
Henderson is a better wrestler than Randy. His olympic background proves this. Two Times Hendo has been to the olympics. Randy could only get alternate.
You can't see Chuck Liddell beating Renzo Gracie? Really? I'm certainly no Liddell fan, but Chuck would easily avoid Renzo's take downs and brutally knock him out. Also, Dan lost to Wanderlei by decision when Silva was at his peak. He did KO him one fight AFTER Silva beefed up for the Open Weight Grand Prix and got the shit knocked out of him by Cro Cop.
One dimensional isn't really all that bad when you force everyone into your game. And Chuck by far had the greater career.
I could see Henderson/Liddell going both ways. Henderson could catch him with a right, or maybe bring the same game plan Rampage brought against Chuck. The fight could also look like Liddell/Couture 2 and 3. It's not exactly a no brainer pick here. Neither are the greatest boxers, but have big power. Hendo has great wrestling, Chuck has great take down defense.
Chuck was more dominant when he was UFC champ then Hendo ever was. Does Hendo have a string of KO's as impressive as the list below? Tito Vernon White Couture Horn Couture again Babalu Tito again. 7 KO title defenses in a row.
