Supposedly after Bute's next fight, its possible that he could face Kessler afterwards.

I'll be pulling for Kessler, but I think Bute is the wrong style for him. ESPECIALLY now, considering that Kessler is faded.

Kessler just beat Froch. The layoff probably has done him good with his eye problem.

    Froch's style suited Kess.

    Bute's style does not.

    You could be right.

Still, given how ponderous Kessler's footwork was against Frochy, Bute has to be seen as the favorite.

Kessler was NEVER as Good as Advertised...PRETTY GOOD Fighter, but NOT "Very Good" or "Great", as Some Labeled him...Admittedly, Kessler's MORE PROVEN than Bute, but REED Would Still Wager on the "Luck of Lucien" to B Victorious...

I actually think that Kessler's classical style is the perfect approach to nullifying Bute's tricky style.

What Kessler has problems with is guys who pressure him (Sloppy Joe & Ward). Especially Ward's leading with his head, and roughing Kessler up on the inside.

Assuming that Bute comes in with his countering and cutey style, he will have trouble getting to Kessler, and will find himself getting hit with Kessler's straight punches.

I think Bute does a number on Kessler. Like Brotha Reed has indicated Kessler was given way too much hype/props for shit he hasn't done! I'll Holla 5000

Kessler is past his prime, yet still beat Froch... a win that looks waayyy more impressive now.

If anything, REED has always underrated him. REED has said that Jermain Taylor, Kelly Pavlik, and Allen Green could have beaten him. LOL @ the first two, ROTFLMAO @ the third.

If he was still the same fighter he was when he beat Andrade, and lost to Calz, then I'd pick him over Bute. Or at the very least I'd call it 50-50. But he's not that fighter anymore.

If Maravilla could maintain his speed at 168, he'd probably do a number on Kess with his robotic footwork.

Even a faded Kessler is a level above Pavlik, Williams, and Dzin though. But I'm done picking against Martinez. He's truly a special fighter.

X, is he a super-fighter? As Max claims him to be?

For example, if he fought P-Will 1oo times, how may would he lose?

Would Donaire beat Montiel everytime he fought him? Let's say they fight 10 times. What's the score?

    Would Pacquiao beat Cotto everytime?

No what he has trouble with is speed.

Bute is very accurate, but not that fast.

What exactly has Bute done? His resume is horrible for a guy rated as highly as he is

Maybe it´s because he looks so stiff at times. Anyway it´s not the kind of speed that will give Kessler huge trouble imho, because it´s a more basic and predictable style than say Calzaghe, Ward or Mundine.

Obviously we don´t know how much Kessler has left. It can´t be much in the eyes of Bute´s handlers, if they want to fight him. Or maybe he isn´t allowed to fight three Brian Magee´s for the ridiculous amount of money Showtime pays him.

STILL.... Bute's left uppercut to the body concerns me for Kessler.

I remember Calz hurting Kess to the body.

If Kessler could pull it off it'd be great.

Waaaaaaaaaaay Before ANYBODY had Faith, Confidence OR Belief in Andre Ward (REED INCLUDED), REED STILL Picked Ward to BEAT Mikkel Kessler...& WHAT Happened???....Ward EMBARRASSED Kessler.....

YOU'RE Much More of a KNEEJERK Reactor than REED Or BIGDAWG has Ever Been, Brother X....For Whatever Reason, U LIKE Kessler, but the FACT is, he's NEVER Proven Himself to Be Anything More than a PRETTY GOOD Fighter...To Lable Kessler as "Good" or "Great" would B QUITE a Reach.....

As USUAL, U're Affording Kessler Waaaaaaaaaaaaay MORE Luxuries than he's EVER Deserved...Kessler would Actually Stand IN FRONT of Kelly Pavlik & Likely Get his Head Knocked from his Homeland to Youngstown, OH....Pre-Pavlik Jermain Taylor Beats Kessler w/SUPERIOR Athleticism...

Kessler is the type of fighter who is very difficult to beat for certain styles and easy for others. Good fight this one, will answer alot of questions about Bute. Fuck is 168 going to be great to watch in the coming years.

Kessler has a good chin, and Pavlik's power above 160 is suspect. The fact that Kelly is a stationary fighter that walks forward in straight lines without premise for defense plays RIGHT into Kessler's hands.

Kessler is basically superior to Pavlik in EVERY way. Perhaps Kelly is a bit more heavy handed, but thats his only case. Kessler is more athletic, quicker, better footwork, better defensively, better combination puncher, better chin, better ring IQ, ect.

Kessler would have beaten the living shit outta Pavlik. And its no coincidence that Kessler was interested in fighting Pavlik, but Kelly wanted no parts of it.

As for Taylor... JT never had the stamina, nor the chin to beat Kessler. You KNOW this. Taylor's athleticism would have given Kessler trouble early, but after that once Kessler's jab is still pumping in JT's face, and his right hand starts landing.... Taylor's end would come soon after.

Agreed. Taylor would never have beaten Kessler, I would have picked Kessler over Pavlik too but that would have been a right tear up, the styles would have matched up very well.

"Great" is a label that I NEVER bestowed onto Kessler. But to label Kessler a "good" fighter is a stretch? Wooowwww.:notallthere:

I guess Froch must be a bum, if Kessler isnt even a "good" fighter.

If they fought in 07, when both were in thier brief primes, Pavlik gets thrashed. Either Kess stops him late, or wins a clear as day UD.

A more competitive scrap would be a PRIME Pavlik vs Froch. Now thats a tough fight to predict.

At this point, Froch would beat the dog shit outta Kelly.

Kessler does everything better than Pavlik, so yes he'd win for sure, he wouldn't beat the shit out of him though, not till the later rounds anyway as their styles match up so well. They both struggle with movers, and guys who attack from unorthodox angles, which neither do, so it will be competitive for the most part.

No doubt it would have been an exciting fight. Kess would have to eat some good right hands, but I think he handles them well.

Like I said, the fight COULD have happened. Kessler was interested, and I'm sure would have come to the States for it. Pavlik wanted no parts of Kess.
